We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant which had a good choice of dishes. The Scottish beef was particularly good and cooked exactly as requested. I also thoroughly enjoyed the marmalade pudding and urge you to try it! There's a decent wine list with sensible prices and plenty of malt whiskies to sample, after coffee in the lounge.

Family evening meal on stop over, the dining room is comfortable and well decorated, but the range of dishes on offer is somewhat limited and uninspiring. Fair enough if you are harpy with a steak, or chicken, or a pie.

We didn't actually eat in the restaurant but in the bar as it's a bit more informal although the menu is the same. Service was good from the young attentive staff, food was a nice surprise. Weren't really sure what to expect as we've just moved to Moffat and no one had really mentioned this place to us, we've just... More

Booked dinner for my husbands birthday while we where staying at the hotel. Restaurant was busy but service was excellent. Starters of pigeon and pate where delicious. I had the steak and hubbie had game pie which came with handcut chips all delicious. Managed to leave room for pudding but no cheese board on offer. Wine list was extensive. Would... More

Arrived without a booking for the restaurant and the young man had no trouble accommodating us in the bar area. We ordered the house wine which was fine and had the breaded Brie which was lovely. I had the salmon fish cakes which were OK. Great place for a quick meal and the menu is the same for bar and... More

Sadly, we couldn't get a room (there was a wedding in town - although we did find a lovely B&B). We were passing by the door when we heard the strains of fiddle and guitar music coming from the bar. We snuck in and found a spot in the corner of an excellent song and tune session with a very... More

Stayed here with parents en route to Scotland. A little tired looking outside but inside was lovely for a small hotel. Rooms freshly decorated, staff all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We had drinks in the bar before dinner which had a good atmosphere and then an excellent dinner, tiger prawns were delicious, lovely bread, fishcakes excellent - all served beautifully.... More

Average hotel for the money, staff were not very helpful especially breakfast staff. Seem to be under trained. Room was comfortable and clean but basic. We only stayed 1 night so it was ok, wouldn't stay here any longer.

I started the evening with a pint of Broughton Brewery's Merlin which went down a treat. We had a bit of a wait for our food but it was worth it. My wife passed on a starter but I couldn't resist a bowl of cullen skink which was delicious. For a main course my wife had chump of Lamb which she... More

Visited with my wife tonight. Only three parties dining at that time. Service was efficient and friendly. My wife opted for the vegetarian plait which she said was very tasty and used fresh vegetables. I had the steak and ale pie with a puff pastry lid. The steak was plentiful and the crust not at all greasy. Would happily recommend.
