This used to be a good restaurant with good food and pleasant staff. It has had a facelift and changed its name. At the same time the service and quality has gone downhill. What used to be a regular stop off will now be removed from the list. There's a Costa Coffee and a Thorntons on site as well. Go... More

We decided to stop here today for a midday cuppa and cake but was quite disappointed at the quality of the cakes. The scones looked lovely and were really large...but when you cut through them they were really dry and had no taste at all to them. The millionaire shortbread really lacked in toffee/caramel...but tasted quite bitter with the amount... More

This is a beautifully clean place to eat with lovely fresh food and a good choice look for deals on coffee and cake there's a specials board offering hot food or there's paninis etc. Family friendly with lots of high chairs tables cleared quickly staff friendly and helpful would recommend this as a good starting place before hitting the shops.

This is now called the Village Restaurant and is a place to avoid.Overpriced awful food which is cold by the time you get through the shambolic system to the till.Cakes and pastries on open display should be covered,no one wants food that has been prodded and sneezed on numerous times.Staff are not interested and have no customer skills.Avoid this awful... We have used this cafe several times now. Can get very busy at peak times. Something for every one from a large range menu, some daily specials as a rule too.

All I can say is no wonder it shut down and changed its name probably the worst meal in Gretna. Whatever it is called now it's a big improvement to mathiesons

The only thing fresh here was the air outside. Actually disgusting 'food' here. Everything seemed to be dry, tasteless and extremely overpriced. If i wanted to eat something like that I would of bought a pack of sandpaper and went to town on it.

Tasteless soup, and extra charge for the (dry, stale "comes in a plastic wrapper" )roll. You would have to be really desperate to use this cafe - cross the road and visit a hotel in Gretna rather than giving this place your custom until it improves its offerings! Not a great way to impress visitors to Scotland.

Me and my mam both ordered the tomato and basil soup and a roll. The bill came to about £13ish, and this also included two drinks. We thought the price was very reasonable. The soup was very hot and tasty, and the roll was very fresh. There seemed to be a few choices of sandwiches and hot food and a... More

Visited the Gateway at Gretna whilst on a coach trip, was desperate for a cup of tea so my husband & I decided to go into this café which seemed ok from the outside. This café is vastly overpriced although we were hungry there was no way I was paying almost £4 for a sandwich, the £1.60 each for a... More
