We haven't stayed at the hotel but we had a lunch in the hotel restaurant and OMG! It is not only delicious but it looks amazing too. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

The first thing I noticed when I entered the Townhouse was a wonderful smell from a candle or something which put me in wonderful mood immediately. We were welcomed by a lovely waitress who gave us a choice of tables. The service was excellent throughout the meal. Food was good and enjoyed by us all although the portions were very... More

Delicious food in the small hotel restaurant. Obviously a good chef. So good my family went there both evenings on the 2 nights we stayed locally on 25/26 October 2016. The manager is friendly and courteous and the staff are also helpful and efficient. Good locally brewed beer too! Made our stay in Melrose all the better for the experience.

Last night of our Airbnb 3 night exploration of lowland Scotland and we ventured from our fab b&b in Bowden down to Melrose. The Town house was pretty full for a Tuesday night but they show horned us in after a short wait. Local beer for me & white wine spritzer for my girlfriend & we were already gunning for... More

Fabulous food in this restuarant. They do an early evening menu that has a good selection of food at reasonable price. Staff are very friendly and helpful

-- but then, I worked hard to plan my day tour to Melrose Abbey and Rosslyn Chapel for a Sunday, determined to have the traditional Sunday roast at lunch time. The Town House was one of the very few restaurants listing a roast loin of Angus beef with Yorkshire pudding for an extremely reasonable price (around fifteen pounds, as I... More

Only went there as we had lunch last year which was very nice. Today was dreadful. Could not have had worse food. Sandwiches were one slice of a cut loaf toasted (obviously stale). Semi raw gristly beef with one lettuce leaf, slice of cucumber and half a cherry tomato. Others fared no better. Soup was acceptable. Very poor value for... More

Fantastic meal. Fois gras starter very nicely seasoned and good temperature. Fiancé mushroom starter looked good and was good eat. My beef bavette was delicious. Perfect seasoning and generous portion. Shared a warm cookie dough dessert which was also very good.
