Nice friendly local indian able to cope with wet coats and folded bikes, which is a plus. Food was good quality and the only let down was the coffee, which was clearly instant. A real shame as otherwise very good.

I was recently on a day trip to Oban from Glasgow with friends who know the town well. After a beautiful short cruise to see the seal colonies in the bay and a hefty climb up to enjoy the magnificent view from McCaigs folly we were in need of sustenance.... big time. This little asian gem is in Stevenson St, a short... The only Indian cuisine restaurant we could find. Location is convenient close to the centre of Oban. The food was delicious - chicken bhuna masala and beef madras. My companion, a connoisseur of Indian food, classed it as excellent. Service was excellent and staff were friendly. Highly recommended.

We, 2 families here for dinner and were very disappointed. The food was cold, tasteless, soggy and not pleasant. We stumbled upon this restaurant in Oban on a Friday evening, it was the last night of our holiday, and before retuning home to Devon we both fancied an Indian meal because we not had one for a while due to our local restaurant closing down. The food in the Light of India was a revelation and the staff are... More

As our last day of holiday in Oban!! We decided to go for a Indian!! Staff couldn't do enough, very polite & friendly!! Wonderful Indian food. Plates were hot when they were brought over!! Very tasty & hot (Temp) food. Generous portions!! Lovely cosy little Restuarant. Please visit this Restuarant if you're looking for proper indian dishes. Many choices!!

We recently had a ferry to catch and hence no time to sit down for a meal, so we opted for two curry dishes plus vegetable pakora, some bolied rice and a garlic nan. The food was absolutely delicious, the pakora for two enough as a meal on its own, the curry dishes, one chicken curry and one prawn curry... More

The light of India is traditional Indian cooking at its best. The Lamb Biryani is my favourite sit in or take away, Splendid service, great atmosphere especially at the weekends, One not to be passed by - or if so at your peril.
