Ate here twice during recent trip to Oban, just to make sure it was that good !. Restaurant is next door to their takeaway, and is quite intimate despite being split over two floors. The fish is fresh, and if you want batter it's very...light, but what we really liked was that they offer pan fried without batter as well. Had rainbow trout and it was spot on. This is way above the standard of most chippies.More

Had the special priced haddock, chips, tea, bread & butter. Fish was fairly thin & few chips but the homemade tartare sauce was excellent. Not the quality we have here in north-east England & much cheaper. Disappointing meal after reading previous reviews.

Stopped here for fish and chips and have to say they were absolutely amazing. Both the fish and chips were cooked to absolute perfection

Average Fish & Chip shop with good portion size. Went here as it was rated best in town. They were tasty but nothing we cannot get in home town

Small piece of cod, lots of small chips ( obviously small potatoes used ) Chips cooked inconsistently as some were hard inside whilst others were mushy. It’s a bit tight inside the staff were ok. For the price and reviews I expected better there are...definitely better places to eat in Oban. Won’t be returningMore

I asked if the chips were cooked in beef fat, and being told they were i said i wouldnt have them, and would just have the veggie burger (from the vegetarian menu). When a deep fried burger came out i checked to see whether this...had actually been fried in beef fat, and it had. I said this was not vegetarian, the staff member shrugged, i couldnt get a refund, and i put the burger in the bin.More

Called okay after the Highland Games. Restaurant was spotlessly clean and the staff were very obliging. Quick efficient service. I ordered the fish and chips with bread and butter and a pot of tea. Food was hot and plenty of it. Tea was very nice...indeed. The staff were excellent. Overall a brilliant experience and cannot wait to go back. Reasonable price as well.More

Don't usually review restaurants but wanted to here because the food was so good. The restaurant was spotless, the service was great and the fish and chips delectable. Light batter, not greasy at all, no skin or other bits left on the fish. The portion...size was just right.More

Always had a fish supper from the takeaway & always very good but decided to sit in the restaurant this time & how disappointing that was as we both had Fish & chips with buttered bread & tea..the portion size was like a kids meal...& the meal itself was like warm , The price paid for this meal made me feel ripped off !!More

Not for vegetarians or vegans or anyone with a different dietary requirement. We sat down, I ordered the only vegatarian dish on the menu to be told they run out.. Waiter was getting annoyed while I was trying to find something to eat so I...asked if they could just do me a portion of vegatarian chips to which he said no, as all the chips are fried in beef dripping. When I asked if the chips in the vegatarian dish were done in beef dripping too he said it was.... Now, is fine not to want or not to cater for people with different diets, but to advertise something as vegetarian and have beef in it is really not a good business practice... I am not even sure this is legal. The waiter said I could have a tomato salad but In the end we left without even having dinner as we were worried they would mess up with our food... Probably the worst service we had in Scotland... Avoid like the plague if anyone in your group has any different diet..More

After a long day island hoping we fell upon this place just before 9am. Got the last table and were pleasantly surprised. Somewhat expensive for fish and chips but quality and quantity top shelf

Greeted at the door by a very friendly and efficient waitress and quickly seated upstairs in a very nice restaurant area. She ran through the different options and explained the grilled fish with us. We both ordered haddock and chips, which was excellent, cooked nicely...and very fresh. I can highly recommend this restaurant/ chip shop, we do think it’s the best in Oban and will definitely return. As it turned out we had a takeaway from here the following night as we left Baab Greek restaurant round the corner after a particularly bad meal. The fish and chips was again excellent. Thanks to the really nice waitress and great fish and chips we will definitely be back.More
