Went to the castle club for lunch a few weeks ago. Fast friendly service and staff. Tables were well spaced out and plenty of room. Fish was delicious and very well presented.
Beef was very tender and tasty.
Very generous portions. Excellent place to go...for good food and social distancing in use as it should be.
Would highly recommend to anyone.More
We visited this establishment for the first time and the high tea was the best we have ever experienced . Our rump steaks were cooked to perfection by the talented chef , Rasel and followed with exquisite home baking , including beautiful meringues , scones...and caramel shortcake . The service was impeccable and Andy McBride ( proprietor/manager ) is the essence of professionalism , supported by charming Toni and Zoe . Gluten free options are available , Covid hygiene measures are in situ and the toilet facilities are immaculate . We shall return in the near future with our extended family and we highly recommend this gem of a restaurant .More
This is a popular local restaurant which offers basic, unpretentious, (dare i say) old fashioned meals at inexpensive prices.
I would have liked to have given a higher rating but i wasn’t entirely happy with my meal.
My “bruschetta” starter can probably be better described...as cheese (and tomato) on toast. It certainly wasn’t bruschetta. It was, unfortunately, not even a good cheese on toast as the cheese rather bland.
For my main i had the pork with black pudding in a peppercorn sauce. Whilst the pork was fine, the black pudding really didn’t taste good, so much so i couldn’t finish eating it.
The positives were the good portion sizes (2 courses are more than enough) and the friendly service.More
This restaurant has been in Forfar for years & is consistently probably the best. There’s nothing overly fancy or indeed expensive, but what you get is great value for money. Food is consistently good as is the friendly service & atmosphere. If you fancy a...night off cooking or of course a little treat, this is the place to go....you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended.More
We had been recommended The Castle Club for good wholesome food, so decided to try it. After parking the car in the nearby car park, we arrived at the restaurant. We reached the dining room on the first floor and were made most welcome by...the staff who showed us to a table for 2. We were given the menus & asked if we required any drinks to accompany the meal. There was a choice of either a light snack menu, or the main menu. It was very difficult to select as there is a huge choice of traditional food. We both eventually decided on Prawn & Salmon with salad, brown bread & marie rose sauce. To follow I had the Seafood Lasagne, accompanied by vegetables & chips. My wife chose the hot Silverside with a whisky pepper sauce, accompanied by vegetables and roast potatoes. Everything was excellent and served very promptly. For a dessert we chose to share a Mixed Berry Pavlova with Ice cream & cream. Again, no complaints. Everything was presented very nicely and served by pleasant staff who seemed to be enjoying their work. It became very busy around 1 o'clock, so it would be advisable to book before going. We will certainly be returning, and will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends.More
