Had an excellent dinner on Friday night. The food was very tasty, imaginative and well presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the location and view are one of - if not the best - in Aberdeen. Very highly recommended particularly for special occasions.

As a guest at a celebration lunch I was looking forward to a great treat. The setting is pretty unique and the staff welcoming and efficient but I was sadly disappointed in my own meal of haddock and chips. The fish was only one half of a haddock for a start! It was served in a breaded and herb type... More

The setting is perfect. We watched several boats leave the harbour and glide past. The service is both friendly and well informed about the food. We ate the most succulent oysters followed by a bouillabaisse of gurnard and mussels on a bed of Saffron risotto. Delicious. The haddock from the haddock and chips menu was creamy fresh and perfect. I have to say the main reason for choosing this restaurant was it's location, followed by the fact it served mainly fish. We had a nice table with a good view. The food was good but not outstanding. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. In my view, it's over-hyped, expensive and rather starchy. It needs a makeover, a... More

Lunched here last Saturday for the first time. Won't be the last. It was a birthday surprise from my hubby. He made the perfect choice. Amazing views, efficient and friendly staff and fantastic food. Two courses for £19.50 were great value and all washed down with a lovely crisp sauvignon. The perfect afternoon!

We went to The Silver Darling on July, 11, 2016. We heard that this restaurant was one of the best in the area. That is definitely not the case. We arrived and loved the location. Things started out well but we were never served and had to leave. We placed our order and 60 minutes later checked in with the... More

We couldn't have enjoyed our evening at Silver Darlings more, we opted for oysters, sea bass and the bouillabaisse which were all delicious and a lovely sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The service was wonderful, very thoughtful and accommodating. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking with floor to ceiling windows affording views of the city and coastline to the... More

The most delicious food. Attentive staff. Lovely views of the beach and harbour - on the evening we were there, it was raining lightly and the sun came out, creating a stunning rainbow beside the lighthouse. Perfect evening.

We lived in Aberdeen many years ago, but had never eaten here, so insisted on coming when we were here for 2 nights. You access the restaurant via a metal winding staircase so as you are high up you can take advantage of the views. We had a G& T each - Porter gin made in Aberdeen, very smooth. Every... More

Description
Named after a local term for herring, Silver Darling makes the most of a superb spot at the entrance of Aberdeen harbour. Built on the flat roof of the old customs house, the conservatory style restaurant commands panoramic views of the Dee estuary one side, and the length of the beach and headland the other (summer sunsets are priceless). A classic French menu is a triumph of superbly presented dishes, singing with flavour. Three courses at dinner could start with oysters marinated with lime and Granny Smiths, followed by pan-fried Atlantic sea bream in red wine, and the dessert du jour.
