We always come here if we are wanting a guaranteed lovely meal. I'm in love with their coconut chilli prawn starter/main and have it every single time!! Would definitely recommend!

We used to love coming to this out in the middle of nowhere place; especially in winter with the fire going. We were group of friends or with family. Hadn't been for a while and returned with friends to a disappointment. The food has gone down in quality and the service we experienced was abrupt, disinterested and forgetful. Dry wrinkled... More
Have been here several times in the past but not for a long while so thought we'd pop in for lunch as in the area. Although food was good, the male waiter bordered on rude and was if we were a nuisance for having come in. He didn't come back after we'd received our food to ask if everything was ok... More
The staff are great, good food and the service is excellent but the owners appear to have been trained by Basil Fawlty. Forget the welcoming fire in the bar and don't even think of encouraging new business. A pity because it was, and could be, the best country pub/restaurant in NE Scotland.
If you plan to go to the Lairhillock on a Saturday evening arrive early to get a table as you cannot book unless you are a party of 6 or more. We arrived at 6.45 pm to a very busy restaurant but managed to get a table for 4 in the conservatory. Service was good however let down by the... More
It's years since I have been in past here but today while out in business calls I popped in for a quick bowl of warming soup and a refreshing drink. The lovely country pub atmosphere dining room is still very much the same which is great as change wouldn't lend it the same charm but I was delighted to see... More
The food and service were excellent as always, we've been coming here for many years and it never lets us down. Keep up the great work.
Alas, Rude Service Spoiled the Taste of the Delicious Food We visited recently, our second time, as part of a large group of friends (12), including 4 young kids. The food was tasty gastropub spread — impressive for the most part and above average in this space I would say. The waiter though, was dismissive and indignant throughout our dining... More
We've been to the Lairhillock many times before over the years and it has always been good with fresh cooked food and reliable service. We haven't been for a while so thought we'd go back. We arrived early at 6pm as you couldn't always book here in the past, however we saw a number of tables already booked although there... More
