Simple but really good menu, service is not over fussy. Good location for romantic meal and the food can be excellent. When its good it's really good.

We fell foul of the 2 sittings policy. We arrived in good time for 7 pm table , slightly early! Service good at start and orders taken however from the delivery of the starter until the delivery of main course was very slow which did not bother our table of four at all as we were having a lovely time.... I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough; the food, service and ambiance are all superb. We were there for an anniversary meal and are so glad we chose it. We were made to feel special and the whole buzz of the place added to the experience. It has a more relaxed vibe than a few years ago and this enhances... More

We ended up at this restaurant because another restaurant that we chose was full. We're so glad it was as we had a fantastic dinner here. They accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation. Atmosphere was modern and comfortable. The drink selection was terrific and the service was just right. We all loved our starters and entrees. If... More

Had a superb meal here and immediately recommended to friends. Enjoyed the drinks, appy's and meal immensely. We were a bit rushed because we hadn't made a reservation but the food came quickly and server staff were attentive. The decor is rather understated and bright, a little underwhelming considering the caliber of the menu - so close to perfection!

No other words are required to sum up James Street South. This truly was the epitome of fine dining. Visited James Street South last night for my birthday dinner. What a special experience. From the moment we entered when our jackets and umbrella were taken away we knew the service was going to be good. The staff were so friendly and polite and also very attentive. The food was exemplary and presented beautifully. We had breads while waiting for... More

This place is amazing. The food is inventive and delicious and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and slick. Get an earlier table and wallow in the attention. Ask for the Shortcross gin. Loved it here.

This is a gem of a restaurant. Fantastic, fresh and appetising food with genuine welcome and brilliant service. Had a lovely meal with some colleagues and would definitely recommend it (in fact already have). Good wine too. Gluten free absolutely no trouble at all to these guys, so double 👍🏻👍🏻 from me!
