Warm, friendly welcome as soon as we entered this Victorian decor pub. The staff were very helpful with food and drink suggestions, especially whisky selections. The fillet steak was amazing. 10/10 from my husband. They have their own in house butchery there. I had the...More

We came into the pub for a Sunday evening meal, and the waiter showed us to a table. I had the vegetarian Linguini and my mate had the sausage and mash. There were huge portions on both plates, and the food was hot and promptly...More

Stopped here as part of a walking tour in Belfast. The place is challenging to find. Their slogan is "proper pub -proper grub" and they live up to it. Portions are generous and tasted pretty darn good. Decent selection of draft beer and other adult...More

It's a little confusing because there's a pub, and there's a restaurant. Our dinner here was the best our Belfast meals (and we ate at good places). The crowning dish was was an expertly prepared, inventively garnished monkfish (which is easy to screw up.) But...More

The Morning Star has a reputation for great steaks and mine was excellent! Our staff was friendly and served us attentively. A lovely waitress told us the story of the local gin, 1912 Cask Gin, the recipe of which was found in a wall of...More

We stumbled across this pub while exploring Belfast. We checked to see if they had food and stopped for dinner. The service was attentive and friendly. There was a small buffet at a very cmpetitive price and I opted for that. My friends ordered from...More

After years of visiting downstairs, we ventured to the upstairs restaurant. WHAT A GEM!!! Hands down the best steak in Belfast, cooked to absolute rare perfection. As we were celebrating a birthday we went all out for The Tomahawk. Amazing. Juicy. Flavorsome, just enough for...More

I ate here on my first visit to Belfast three years ago. I had very fond memories of my dinner here so I was anxious to return for another dinner. The atmosphere was great and the waiter was a riot! He would purposely fall off...More

Was served a short beer, when we asked the bartender to top up he picked up the glass and pretended to hit the lever and put it back down in front of us still short. Will never return. The bartender made it clear we weren't...More

We were a party of ten and our young waiter, Colm made it easy for us all. He was helpful and kept us laughing. Deserves praise from his manager. Food was lovely and I would certainly return. Only downside was disabled facilities were poor

The Morning Star dates back to 1810 as a public house, but the building was here well before that! The entries were, and still are, the heartbeat of old Belfast. Located in an old romantic entry running between Ann Street + High Street, in the heart of Belfast City Centre. The Morning Star is easily identified by the superb Victorian sign hanging from a grandly exuberant iron bracket jutting out from the corner of the bar, one of the finest examples of its type around. We source all our beef, chicken, lamb and pork locally and most off our family farm. We serve award winning food in our restaurant and bar Monday to Sunday, with a focus on simplicity and promoting local produce. Our bars stock the best in spirits and we pride ourselves on our vast whiskey range. We also have local and international craft beers on tap along with the likes of the black stuff (guinness).
