Fantastic atmosphere, staff are friendly and accommodating. Perfect location and cater for all, traditional warming pub, strongly advise a visit!!!
The Packet, has been at the heart of the community forever!! But in recent years, due to the gentrification of the Bay, the vibrancy of the of the community was stolen. Big brand brewery's just don't offer the atmosphere of a traditional 'local' pub environment....BUT since the new landlords have take over the Packet, they have brought something back that has been missing for many years. Amazing service, good vibes, and EXCEPTIONAL people. If your a visitor to the Bay, you will be welcomed and treated like one of the locals. Music from local DJ Donna Zee, is on point! You will NOT be disappointed.More
When you walk in the door it is like going back to how bars were, you have great locals, passing trade, different age groups all enjoying a pub how it should be. The staff are friendly and always welcoming, happy to serve you with a...smile. Beer is cold and presented well which tells you that the cellar is well looked after. A few steps away from the bar and you are in the beer garden which you may miss if not looking for it. The characters are the locals, they make you feel at home. Not many pubs have these people anymore. Whist I was there the staff were busy either serving, clearing tables, wiping the bar down. They all take pride in the place they work. Unfortunately they do not do food . So if you ever come to Cardiff Bay you must have a pint or two in here, guaranteed you will return like I have.More
After returning 4 times since October, I have now crowned this my local 🤣 Our Christmas night out, on a very busy Friday night was a blast & nothing was too much! Fantastic atmosphere, great decor & most importantly really helpful & friendly staff. Congratulations...to Rach & Ryan for injecting some life back into the old place & to Ashley for always making us feel safe & looking after us.More
Proper old school boozer , real friendly patrons and staff , I felt very welcome . Also Ashley did a banging shamrock in my Guinness
Visited this pub yesterday for a speaking event, it got extremely busy but Becky and her staff were efficient in getting everybody served quickly. The staff were friendly & welcoming, if I ever get to Cardiff again I will definitely visit again.
My OH wanted to call in here as it's one of the last of the old fashioned pubs left in the area....we had a very warm welcome from the guy behind the bar...the beer was ok...if you're passing it's worth a visit...
We had our staff party on a Friday night in The Packet, what a great night it was. The female manager (I think her name was Racheal) was so helpful with the organisation & patient with us when we were a bit loud lol. Friendly...Bar staff & fantastic traditional Welsh pub. We will definitely be back for our Christmas do…More
We visited The Packet during September 2021. Oh my god it was rough. I sat down with a beer whilst my fiancee went to the toilet. It is the only pub that I've felt like I was going to get mugged in. The single worst...pub I've ever been inside. Dont step a foot inside here. Jesus christ don't!!More
If you want to catch Covid, come to The Packet! Staff don't wear masks, service at the bar to customers not wearing masks and tables stuffed close together. An absolute breeding ground for disease.
Now look Here! This is one of the few last remaining old pubs in Cardiff Docks. (Where my mother told me never to go, which I did, of course.) You don't go here for elegance, for fine dining; you go here for history, remembrance, and...to weep for the passing of things. Do go.More
We always stop off here for a drink when in Cardiff. Great quiz on a Wednesday evening. There is always a warm welcome and not too pricey for a pub close to the Bay.
Scruffy. Didn't look clean, Christmas stickers still up half way through January....expensive drinks.disappointed as it looked so lovely from the outside!
I love this pub, especially on a Friday night, especially in the run up to Christmas, live music - Blues last night - and real people having real 'good times'.
