Top quality food in modest surroundings; just how I like it. Been here several times now, and great all round experience.

Walked the Garth with my partner, and even though both from the local area have not eaten here before. My partner has and promised to bring me here. One sunny Friday afternoon we set off on our walk stopping halfway for a meal here! The weather was glorious so we sat outside and ate our food. I had the lasagne... More

I had heard lots of good things about this place, and it didn't disappoint. The ambience is lovely, a real traditional watering hole but everything is clean. The food is really delicious, huge portions so you definitely wont leave feeling hungry! Also, the service was great, super friendly and attentive staff.

Came here with a friend for a bite to eat as we couldn't be bothered cooking, sat in the beer garden and was served quickly, it was starting to get busy but our food arrived arrived in good time, hot and was tasty! Steak and Ale pie and Ham with parsley sauce! Yum yum!! Dan the man behind the bar... More

We go for lunch here every now and then - this time for a Sunday lunch in a group of 6 adults with 2 babies. The restaurant was busy (which made the service a little hit and miss at times, understandably) but the food was really excellent and the staff were very friendly and considerate - finding us an electric... Couldn't fault the food or the service, nice relaxed atmosphere, with great choice of menu, and locally sourced produce.

Been here twice now over the past 2 months once in the bar and once in the restaurant. Quality of the food is consistent and better than the red fox see my other reviews. Good selection of real Ales in the downstairs bar and staff are friendly and attentive. If you can finish the portions of veg and or chips... More

Slightly off the beaten track, popular with locals, ramblers and those of us who know where to find it. Prompt, polite service and fantastic food at reasonable prices. A favourite of ours as a couple and a family for years. Only one slight downside is the parking, but you can't get a quaint, friendly pub like this without some small... More

Wonderful meal with 3 generations of family. Food was hot, fresh and well presented. Staff were pleasant and we had plenty of time between courses, did not feel rushed, and therefore had 3 courses, which were all enjoyable. Will return again. If I have not put a negative point, there was not a lot of room to park, but definitely... More
