my first visit to the Red Lion with two friends. Was greeted by smiling young lady who was very polite and attentive all evening. The food was excellent. i haf soup to start with large bread roll which was warmed through and real butter. The Glamorgan lamb was beautifully cooked. Red wine was also good. My friends had the hake... More

Forgettable! Food was ok but nothing special. Portion sizes small. Table was very sticky as was the floor area where we were sat. Staff member was pleasant. Service was good. We were asked how we liked lamb and steak cooked but it was not cooked as requested. I ordered "8oz Vale of Glamorgan rump steak, roasted shallot, slow roast tomato,... More

2nd visit after really enjoying 1st. In fact brought my parents for lunch. when we walked in 1/2 the room was stacked up with tables and chairs which wasn't appealing. (they had a wedding in the night). most of us fancied the fish & chips which was not available! my mother really struggled with the menu as no chicken dish... More

Visited here for the first time today for Sunday lunch and I cannot fault it. Only managed two courses as was full to the brim with delicious food. I had the chicken liver parfait to start with crunchy toast and chutney- never have I tasted such a smooth parfait, gorgeous. My partner had pea and mint soup which he said... More

We had booked to go elsewhere but half way there my car started to act up, so we had to turn back. We passed the Red Lion on our way and decided to give it a go as I had passed it many times and always fancied eating there. It was very quiet, there was only one other table dining... More

We’re a bit late with our review. This place is on the wrong side of Cardiff for us but we drove out here in the dark and wet to meet up with friends for dinner having never eaten here before. What we had was OK, but the choice on the relatively small menu was reduced because a number of dishes... More

We visited on a Saturday evening, there were very few customers. The decor is pleasant ane well thought out. However when I used the ladies toilet, which initially looked very clean, the floors were very dusty and dirty. Had certainly not been cleaned recently!!! My partner ordered scallops as a starter, with pork crackling!! There were two scallops with the... More

The decor was lovely, very fresh and liked the blackboards detailing the menu and the importance of locally sourced food etc. we both had the burgers, they were delicious. we travel all over south wales trying to seek the best burgers. the chips were lovely and the patty very... A sympathetically refurbished and well presented stone built country pub, serving modern British and European cuisine; traditional dishes coupled with inventive flavour combinations, that change with the seasons, and the very best of local produce. Delicious food, modestly priced.
