Amazing food in a friendly restaurant, as always. On this occasion we had the gnocci and the tomato and aubergine gateau - the chocolate mouse was fantastic! Great flavour combos and beautifully presented. One of the very best vegetarian restaurants in the UK, and in how many restaurants will the chef come and have a chat with you about the... More

Second time in this gem of a restaurant and I can not recommend highly enough. Nice laid back atmosphere with a varied menu. Although limited choice, generally 3 choices for each starter, main, dessert, I have struggled to choose each time. Food is top quality, and presented perfectly for a very reasonable price. It's impossible not to have 3 courses.... More

Another fantastic meal at Caban, the food never disappoints. Definitely the best place for veggie food in Cardiff. Where else do you get to chat to the chef about the dishes? Do n't be put off by the location or the interior the welcome is always friendly and the service is good. Only open on Fridays and Saturdays but the... More

Well what a delight. I am not a big meat eater but did not feel that I missed out on anything. Excellent service and the food was different and very tasty - excellent presentation and seeing the chef was a delight. Not a huge selection of drinks but just enough to get by on. Never heard or seen any of... More

Outstanding food, which always caters for a variety of dietary needs, and the menu changes regularly. I have been eating here since its opening, and as one of the team Caban's greatest fans, I just wish they would open again on Thursday evenings?

I've been eating here for a few years now and the food is always extremely good. Tasty, visually appealing and excellent portions. The BYOB option is another reason to visit. Thanks to you Chef and to your team for always giving us meals to remember. See you soon!

This is a restaurant that serves food freshly prepared and seasonal they only have 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. But everyone is a gem. The menu changes every 3/4 weeks so you can go regularly and get a different experience... I have reviewed this restaurant before but have felt that the most recent menu needed a particular mention.... More

First time at Caban, really impressed with the quality of the service and the food. Probably the best ravioli (starter) and sticky toffee pudding I have ever had. As I've never had a Wat before I cant compare it though it was very nice. If I didnt live in Pembrokeshire, Id probably be a regular.

Description
Canteen on Clifton Street in Cardiff is a fun and lively restaurant with fresh and inspiring fare. The down-to-earth dining room, with tiled floors and wood-panelled walls, is well-known for its vegetarian-based menu, and is the perfect place for dinners and parties with friends who are vegans, vegetarians and/or omnivores. The kitchen at Canteen on Clifton Street takes inspiration from Mexican and Mediterranean traditions, and the menu changes every fortnight. Favourite dishes include the Arabian spiced lamb with cardamom, pistachio and apricot rice; curried parsnip and mango soup; Lebanese spinach parcels with carrot and beetroot salad; and their famous vegan sticky toffee pudding. The chefs at Canteen are also happy to create bespoke meals.
