Called into the trading post for a snack last weekend after doing some shopping around abergaveny , we were greeted as we entered the door and was shown to a table but that's where the good ended. it took ages for our food to come out and when it did my wife's curry was cold and had to be sent... Steak and Guinness pie, poor standard stewed meat with lazy crust plopped on top. Tasteless broccoli and Stilton bake, resembled a fish cake and possibly warmed in the microwave, salad with brown edges to the lettuce not good and left. Service sort of off hand, just doing a job didn't warrant a tip. Toilets pretty grubby, old litter in one... More

I visit this regularly it's homely, great food and very reasonable. It's not fancy but perfect. Good size portions and excellent service.

Stopped by to grab a quick lunch with my 8 year old daughter. Daisy loves her lunch out and it was a nice touch for your waitress to talk to Daisy directly, taking her order and pointing out a change to the kids special. Daisy had the chicken dippers, not the horrid Birds eye ones but home made chunks of... More

Enjoyed a visit here with family in between Xmas and New Year. First tried the Angel Hotel, but service was slow and prices rather steep foe a luncheon snack, so we left after just a coffee. Glad we did, as the Trading Post gas a good atmosphere too and is more than half the price. My wife had the Welsh... More

Visited twice that day and the staff and the food is excellent. Highly recommended. Always go to the same place and always get a warm welcome.

I would disregard previous review, we as a family visit The Trading Post weekly and have been in many times when customers have brought their dogs in and to my knowledge nobody has complained infact people seem to like it and The Trading Post has become known as 'dog friendly'. The service from the staff is always first class, the... More

I only have one positive comment here, and that was my Welsh Rarebit was delicious; my other comments are, unfortunately, negative. First of all we waited 20 minutes to have our order take. Yes, the restaurant was reasonably busy, but others seated later than us were served first so the attention of the staff needs some work. Secondly, my husband... More

The food is always freshly prepared and is lovely. Time and care is taken to get the order right for you and for those of you who are watching their weight or other reasons butter is an added extra, a rare thing. The breakfasts are good value and really tasty and the specials selection is varied and appealing. Las time... More
