The Clytha Arms was perfect for a lovely beer in the garden following a fresh climb to the top of the Sugar Loaf. Dog friendly pub and plenty of beers to chose from, we will certainly be back for food sometime soon!

The Clytha arms is in a fab location and the front of the building looks lovely and welcoming, alas the interior does not have the same appeal. The sitting/small dining room was not great, leather sofas that needed a good clean and a fire place that still had a half burt large log in it with various bits of paper... More

The Clytha Arms is an award winning country pub set in the Welsh countryside near Abergavenny. If you wish to eat a meal, you are advised to book in advance as it is in some demand. In addition to a well stocked bar, the pub offers a large and interesting menu. We had a bourride of shellfish, a type of... More

A long walk with the dogs was made all the more special by a mid-week supper at The Clytha. We sat outside in the garden where the dogs had to be tethered because of the proximity of the road. We would do that anyway so as not to disturb other guests so no problem there. My friend and I both... More

Myself and friends (16 of us) arrived hoping for just a Saturday lunch time sandwich or snacks and beers to be told they were busy but could still do something for us .They recommended we have bowls of chips to avoid waiting long. We didn't have to wait long but the bowls of chips were minuscule and at £3.50 a... More

Well, what can be said? We decided on the spur of the moment on Saturday night to book a table for Sunday lunch and we do not regret it...it was truly great. I had the traditional - rib of beef with all the trimmings - absolutely divine...hubs had pollock (with chips) and he said it was superb! Plenty of veg... More

This is a great pace to visit for a drink. Very good choice of beers (incl some local) in a convivial bar. In addition to the 'regulars' they also do guest beers. Cannot comment on the dining room as have not eaten there for a long while but the light bar bites are OK.

Called in for a quick coffee and small beer on the way home before the school run. I had not been here for some time. Years ago, the beer and service was excellent. It looks a bit dated now and could do with a bit of a refresh. Long and short of it was that the coffee took 20 mins... More

17 of us met up here for lunch. When I rang to book they immediately offered us the use of a private room at the back of the pub which was ideal for our noisy party. When we arrived we received a warm welcome and spent some time in the bar before adjourning to our room.Orders were taken promptly and some... More

We thought it was time to contribute to the Welsh economy given it's current problems so we shlepped down to Abergavenny and booked a couple of rooms and had D, B&B.What can I say? Consistent and excellent vfm as usual. Andrew and his staff as attendant as usual. My only niggle is that since Andrew seemed to have more than... More
