Bought a deal through groupon and glad we did. The food was fantastic and looked like a work of art. Atmosphere was lovely and the decor fantastic. Prices were very reasonable for fine dining.

Really lovely evening and wonderful food would certainly recommend. Possibly due to its location we found it went quiet very early so after our meal we went elsewhere for a drink.

I love this resturant. Atmosphere relaxing and quiet so you can sit and enjoy your meal. Food yummy and tastey. Booked under the birthday offer and very pleased with the total bill.

Beautiful little restaurant with a gentle ambience. Although advertised as in 'Abergavenny', it is situated miles outside the town centre so if you are staying in the town and planning to walk - don't! Good selection of wine and absolutely delicious food but I felt it was overpriced for the portion size. Still, a lovely treat if you don't mind... More

We recently visited 1861 for the first time on my Husband's birthday having driven past it a year ago, and we were so pleased to have tried it this time.It was a weekday lunchtime and there were not many other people there but the welcome was very warm and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. We opted for the Taster menu... More

Poor interior, bland food that is way overpriced. Amazed that on informing the owner of a caterpillar in one of our starters, although she was apologetic and gave us some complimentary drinks and scallops we were still billed for this! We feel this should have been removed from the bill regardless! With a bill of £220 we were very disappointed... More

Very small portions & extortionate prices!! Wouldn't frequent there again! Supposed to be a la Carte - we had to have McDonald's on way home to fill up!!

High end food in a low key setting. We were there for lunch. Three courses plus a glass or two of wine comes out at £45-50 if you go a la carte. Scallops with Jerusalem artichoke purée was excellent, as was the quail done three ways. The desserts really stood out too. The elderflower soufflé is worth the trip alone!

Came here with my family. Bread that we were given at the start was amazing... the starter I had wasn't great however the lamb was cooked beautifullto for my main. The lady who owns the place was really sweet along with the waiter- who does an outstanding job!
