Waited over 10 minutes at the bar to pay for our drinks whilst both bar staff spent their time fawning over another customer who ordered a meal and who then decided he wanted to view the bottles of wine behind the bar (all of which you could buy at the supermarket for £5.99).To make matters worse, when they deigned to take... Once you get over this un-PC name, you will enjoy this cozy pub with character along a quiet lane in Caernafron. We sat in the bar area, which was still like a dining room, and away from the families with loud children.

I've visited many times before, and they never disappoint. We initially only popped in for a drink while waiting for our room in another hotel to become available. We felt so chilled there however, that one drink turned into several and an evening meal! Service and ambience is wondeful. And the food is to die for. I had Thai butternut squash... More

What a shame. We wonder if the Black Boy has become too busy for it's own good? Long waits, kitchen stopped taking orders, husband and son's meal arrived eventually but mine was 'lost'. Food was average. The chicken in the pie was dry and chewy. My son's pasta portion was very small for the price and so he shared husband's... More

Extensive menu loads of choice. We had the bread selection with balsamic and olive oil as a starter. We shared one serving there was more than enough loads of lovely fresh bread and pats of butter if you wanted. Next was a homemade chicken curry which was served with either rice, chips or both. You also get a naan bread. The... More

I have wanted to eat at the Black boy for a number of years after calling past a few times and smelling fantastic food. My girlfriend and I were celebrating an anniversary so decided the drive to Caernarfon would give us the ideal opportunity to try the food. The staff are very helpful and friendly and despite being busy the... More

After 30 years of visiting this pub regularly we decided to book a table for 10 in the restaurant . The service from Sian was extremely friendly. Diary needs catered for professionally. Prompt table, without booking. Quick service and seriously good food at extremely good prices! Good old Black Boy!!!!

Had a lovely meal in the restaurant, booking essential it was packed on a Monday night. Great value for money with excellent real ale. The braised steak special was very tasty.

The atmosphere and the staff are very good even if you are on your own. You will soon be in conversation and discussing the attributes of both the pub and the town. History is everywhere including the walls inside the bar.

The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)
