Just by chance called in here for our lunch as there is a kids play park beside it. Lovely meal and kids menu was good. Selection of real ales on tap with an old world atmosphere.

Stayed for just one night. The room was nicely furnished, with good bedding, great towels, tea, coffee and a few toiletries. The room was spotless, and the best use had been made of the space. The hotel is 16th century in parts so if like me you are 6 ft tall you may find the beams a challenge. But one... More

We visited just for a drink and were over the moon to see Wrexham Lager being served. The inside was very authentic and full of character. The staff were friendly. The menu looked good and it had a 5 star rating. It was popular with locals and visitors!!

We were traveling as 2 couples and stayed in Caernarfon for 2 nights. We were also there 2 years ago and had good memories of our meal at The Black Boy. So we wanted to take our friends there. All 4 meals were so good, that there was no hesitation when choosing where to eat the next night. Again, we... More

We had a great time. Super cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff. We felt like in medieval times. The menu was awesome and the food quality flawless.

Very poor service on Friday 22 July 2016. 40 minutes wait for starter after order was taken followed by a 50 minutes wait for the main course. Saturday 23 July 50 minutes wait for stater to be told they forgot to put our order into the Kitchen. We did recieve a meal within in a 10 minutes more waiting time.... More

We take note of your comments. We have investigated this complaint by yourself. We will make comment that you requested, that the lobster needed to be cut up by the kitchen staff hence the missing claws etc .Normally the lobster is sent out whole. You also requested that the steak be cut into strips by kitchen , this again the kitchen... Just had an amazing sunday lunch with the family. The beef roast was 10/10 and the pudding was great. Fantastic surroundings but one problem..... the young staff that served us lunch and took the orders were some what unfriendly lacking a little bit of grace, if anything they seemed some what pissed off as if they did not want to... The black boy inn is a pub full of charm and top quality staff , We sat outside and watched the world go by as we waited a short time for our dinner the Welsh Rarebit was simply the best I've ever tasted ! Description
The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)
