The Mount Inn had been recommended by friends, and the reviews looked good so we decided to book up a Sunday Lunch. The photographs say everything. The views are amazing and the pub (on a January day) was warm, cozy and inviting. We sat down for lunch. My wife choose haddock and chips. I chose the roast beef. The fish... More

This place proves that you can eat fabulously in the UK nowadays. We enjoyed the food and the place so much that we returned the next day to taste other dishes. We had wild seabass, duck confit, excellent meat stew with great side dishes. The desserts were as good as the rest of the food. Service was nice and effective,... More

4 of us walked 5 miles in pouring rain on Saturday, ending up at the Mount Inn at 2.00 pm. Taking off soaking clothing and wet boots, we entered the bar at 2.05 pm (precisely), and were told by the lady in charge that the kitchen closed at 2.00 pm and no food could be served. She was unfriendly, officious... More

Enjoyed a midweek lunch here. Not easy to find, turn left as you enter the village and keep going, up a steep track. As everyone says the views are wonderful and the pub staff were friendly and attentive. My price gauge for pubs is the cost of fish and chips, with the cost here of £13.50 being at the upper... I have been to this pub a few times and more often than not have had to return the beer. I've heard this from friends too

Don't get me wrong, it is a very good pub; decent ales (though not that many to choose from) and goód food, but he service can be a bit slow (we have been here sometimes before). If you have the time though - sit outside (especially on a sunny day) and see Stanton and the Cotswolds before your feet. With... More

First time here for years here with friends, new owners/landlords now. Very busy on a Saturday evening but a warm friendly welcome and all staff were very efficient and friendly too. Large choice including many specials. Good local beer and the wine was fairly priced too. Starter portions were large and my wife's crab was lets say "different". It was... More

The Mount Inn is some distance from a main road. We assumed that it would be quiet on a Thursday lunchtime but could not be accommodated in the main restaurant area. In fact, that worked out OK, because the smaller bar area is much more interesting than the slightly bland restaurant area. On the other hand, some parts of the... More

Fabulous setting and views. Wonderful circular walk with two dogs up the hillside and back along the Cotswolds Way, followed by an excellent lunch. We shared a deep fried local cheese starter - delicious, then I had the beef and my husband had the lamb, both meats pink, tender and perfect., followed by a sticky toffee pudding to die for!... I have been twice to this pub, drawn by its magnificent setting at the top of the picturesque village of Stanton. On a bright spring day, sat on one of several viewing platforms, the village set out before you, little is wrong with the world. Our first visit was for a family reunion and our set table was very efficiently... More
