In a beautiful little country village with a clear chalk stream running along the road and 17th century stone cottages with thatched roofs this charming hotel and restaurant is a secret find. Superb lunch prepared with excellent ingredients in a pretty dining room overlooking the charming garden and lovely countryside. Service was professional and friendly. The rhubarb souffle was very... We recently stayed at the hotel overnight. The hotel is in a very pretty village and well kept. We only met one member of staff who was extremely helpful and friendly if not a little harassed as he seemed to be on reception, the waiter and in the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and our room was good. However we... More

From the moment we arrived to our departure time we really enjoyed our stay. The friendly greeting and spotless rooms with wonderful food in a totally delightful setting made our stay memorable. The gardens are lovingly tended and if you are lucky enough to have good weather(as we experienced) it adds to the enjoyment. This is how a country house... More

Have been wanting to visit this quiet little tucked away restaurant for awhile, and it certainly lived up to all hopes and expectations when we eventually made it. Lovely welcome and hospitality when we arrived and before taken through to the dining room. Lots of impressive choices on the menu and lots of seasonal and local ingredients. Some lovely seared... Pre-lunch drinks in a comfy lounge - with a real log fire. Extensive menu and wine list. We all chose from the set menu which was great value - 3 courses for £20 plus drinks (wine by the glass was reasonably priced) All 4 of us chose the pear and Roquefort salad to start, 3 mains of fish and mashed... Celebrated a friend’s 60th birthday in style over relaxing lunch at The Howards House Hotel. Lovely rural location, pleasant restaurant and comfy coffee lounge complete with fireplace. We opted for the seasonal menu at £32.50 for 3 courses. Menu looked appetising and went for wild mushrooms to start and Partridge to follow. Mushroom course was ok but on the small... More

My wife and I stayed over a weekend in the most relaxed, homely and comfortable surroundings. Our room was excellent, with a comfy bed and plenty of room. It was spotless, well appointed and the en-suite excellent. The setting for the hotel is stunning with plenty of easy walks straight from the door. But it is the food that is... More

My partner was given a gift voucher from work as a thank you to this beautiful hotel. We used the voucher to order a hamper to take to the surrounding grounds and have a picnic. The staff were really polite and friendly when we arrived - giving details of where was best to visit in the area. The picnic was... More

This privately owned small hotel in the beautiful village of Teffont is our 'go-to' restaurant for special occasions. Manager Simon goes to great lengths to ensure that you leave happy, despite the fairly serious prices, especially the wines. Better in summer because of the lovely terrace overlooking the gardens and equipped with a tinkling pond complete with croaking frogs, it... More
