If you are on a gluten-free diet, caution is needed in this restaurant! My friend asked which food was gluten-free and was told both soups and the salmon. He ordered vegetable soup and the server went into the kitchen to get gluten-free bread. Having eaten some soup, my friend realised there was pasta in the soup. He checked with the... More

The Refectory was a real surprise. The food was excellent and good value and of course you can eat it in the cloisters too. We ordered the butternut squash soup and the pork baguette - both of these were very large and well done. Then we had cold drinks and all of this for 12 GBP - excellent value and... More

A lot of cathedrals and museums could learn from this place. Light and bright with fresh food and a menu that changes daily. Excellent value for money, too.

Have been here before but was disappointed today to find display of cakes etc left open to marauding bluebottles and flies. Admittedly there was not much left to protect but this seemed odd mid afternoon on a Friday when plenty of tourists were around.

Came across this place by chance. Set inside the Cathedral it's a charming place to meet for coffee. The glass roof provides views of the spire. I didn't sample the food this time as I was just meeting friends but would certainly try it for lunch. Also appeared to have a good selection of cakes. The only draw back was... More

If you are visiting the cathedral, stop to sample the delights of their cafe. We went for lunch and liked it so much, that we we t back for afternoon tea. The soup of the day was a huge serve and delicious, and came with a bug hunk of crusty bread. My partner tried the baguette with hot roast pork... More

After a visit to Salisbury City what better place to have lunch. Amazing views of the Spire through the glass roof. An interesting and diverse menu with plenty of seating in the restaurant and cloisters. Brilliant salads and hot food as well as a ready to go selection.

Had a bite to eat and on the way out asked for a takeaway. They had a sandwich with cheese, ham and red onions. I asked them to remove the red onions before they toast the sandwich. Unbeknown to me, he removed not only the red onions, but also the ham, so when I tried to tuck into my cheese... More

Dear Hugo Thank you for your comments regarding your recent visit to the Refectory. I must just clarify that we don't sell a ham, cheese and onion toasted sandwich only ham & cheese or cheese & red onion, so if you wanted your onion removed it would therefore only be a cheese sandwich. I'm sorry you felt that this was... More

Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. Delicious chutney. Then, look up for the most stunning architectural close up as you eat.
