We have been visiting the Gascoigne for years but feel that sometimes the young staff can't be bothered, we went for a drink on Saturday evening to be greeted by bored, un-interested bar staff, that were busy chatting to each other rather than paying attention to the customer. It was a young man and two young girls, we looked around... More

The Gascoigne is very local to me and serves a wide range of beers. All, I might add, kept in the best possible way. So, instead of the trusted fish & chips from the chippy, I decided to have a couple of pints of Black Sheep. Excellent. A specials board indicated that poached haddock served with melted cheese and a... More

Took 2 colleagues for dinner on a Tuesday night and the pub was really quiet. Had time for a leisurely pint sat outside and then had a friendly prompt that the chef would like to do our meals before he left so we grabbed a table. Starters and mains, burger, vegetarian and the mixed grill all cooked well and served... More

Weather was scorching so decided to go for a pub lunch - settled on The Gascoigne Arms which is in a lovely spot in the middle of Barwick. Sitting in the beer garden was so quiet and peaceful other than the ofd car every 5 minutes. My Dad has the steak pie and took about 10 mins longer than usual... More

Very nice surroundings food really good. We had steak and ale pie, chicken and leek pie and burger. Home maid chips but a couple were under cooked still ate them cos they were lovely. We were disappointed because the pies didn't come with gravy we had to pay extra which we found unusual because everywhere I've had pie before it... More

I should love this place, I live down the road from it. I have a lot of time for the staff who are pretty good, always a friendly smile and a warm welcome. However, I'm unable to support them as the landlord and landlady just keep getting worse. I can't support them in their fraudulent lifestyle. As reported in the... More

Unless you know the full story - I wouldn't judge if I were you. All very well jumping to conclusions - I suggest you speak to me first before you put a slur on the pub and me. Please get your facts right. Just remember there are 2 sides to every story and papers obviously are gospel truth. Not. More

We visit this pub regularly in summer but have not eaten here before. We had family visiting from overseas and decided to try the food. Refurbishment is very tasteful but stll retains its character. The bar was empty and we had our pick of table, however i did book a table online but this was not acknowledged and no confirmation... More

The food was lovely here, I ordered the chilli jacket potato as it was lunch time and there was plenty of it on the plate. The only down side to the experience was that we were served by a petite girl with short dark brown hair and glasses. I asked for a glass of diet coke and she must of... More
