Situated on the rather swish York Place, close to Leeds mainline railway station, Miah’s Place is an Indian restaurant with a wow factor. Right from the outset you really know that you’re in for something special – the restaurant is set within one of the old red brick buildings, behind wrought iron low fencing, its subtle signage indicating that Miah’s Kitchen, a small scale chain making waves throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, is perhaps a little more special than your average Indian eatery. Through the portico-ed front door you’ll enter a stylish dining room furnished in an unusual Art Deco inspired style, with ball topped lamps, sensuous lines and low slung leather seating, all in low key tones. Miah’s Kitchen offers an extensive menu of old Indian favourites, ranging from tandoori dishes to biryanis and baltis as well as a good collection of specialties created especially for the restaurant, using contemporary and traditional techniques. Surprisingly affordable, Miah’s Kitchen provides an upmarket take on Indian dining without the price tag.

Food was average here, not that different from other places. Not much meat in curry though, mostly curry sauce.

My partner and I had a night in Leeds Saturday ...our experience started with a very kind taxi driver taking us to a nice Indian we asked ... When we arrived at Miahs kitchen the minute we walked in the staff were very nice and welcoming and made us feel very special ... The food I can safely say was... More

After visiting a while ago, we re visited, very disappointed. Hardly any staff and of those that were working only the female member had any courtesy. Though the food quality was good the quantity was poor. When your paying around £10 for a main dish you expect more than 3 Or 4 pieces of meat, not lots of sauce!!

We went after a couple of drinks and the staff was ignorant and looked like they couldn't wait to get rid of us. Food was nothing special. Never again

Booked in for Saturday 23rd January to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately not a pleasant experience. Ordered food and a couple of pints of Cobra. Main course arrived before starters! When we pointed this out, they insisted we had not ordered a starter (complete nonsense). They then brought their order sheet showing that they had not entered the starters onto the... More

Arrived to an empty restaurant early on a bitterly cold Saturday evening. Was warmly welcomed and had four excellent dishes washed down with cobra. Didn't break the bank and the complimentary shots were a nice gesture to finish.

Called in on New Years night with my partner and we both had the most amazing meal, we tried food off the Chefs Recommendations menu, absolutely delicious. The service was great as 2 of the staff were very attentive and friendly and aimed to please.

My partner and I visit lots of Indian restaurants, we had read some good reviews for Miah's kitchen and were not disappointed. The service was excellent, the food fantastic. The restaurant has a good atmosphere with modern clean slick decor. Would definitely recommend.

This is one of those restaurants that provides good service and tasty food, but fails to deliver a 'wow' factor. As a result, it's difficult to give it 4 stars. That said, you could do far worse than book a table at Miah's Kitchen on York Place. Having been to countless Indian restaurants all over the UK and beyond, I... More
