Superb food and service, and they were extremely busy. Local crab especially good. Pleased to sample Curious Brew on tap.

Popped in for cheeky G&T. Range of gins superb. Staff friendly. Atmosphere spot on. Have dined here previously and food is also excellent. Just wished I lived nearer so it could be "my local".

Roast was one of the best I've had, the beef was perfectly pink and the veg was just as lovely! The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and staff were very welcoming and friendly.

A very good pub with an excellent restaurant and just the most beautiful hosts. All the staff are helpful and we have now been back four times over the last year and a half and are always delighted with the welcome and the great food. Tonight the soup was above average and both main courses, duck leg and red mullet... More

We had a really delicious lunch today at The George. My cod with mussels in saffron veloute was simply delectable and despite the determination not to eat it all (because of the calories!) I cleared the plate. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and apparently the beer was excellent too. It won't be long before we have a return visit.

We popped into The George for a snack lunch. We were warmly welcomed, seated beside a lovely log fire and treated to a delicious snack of rarebit with red onion marmalade and garnish. Truly yummy.

Easily one of the nicest roasts I have ever had. The portions are big and delicious and the pub itself is gorgeous.

My husband, son and I went here for dinner last night for the first time as it's been recently refurbished and has great reviews. We were celebrating my son's birthday and early Mother's Day combined, and he was down from London for the weekend. He was very impressed with the new menu (as we all were), the quality of food... I have visited this establishment a few times over the years, but there were 13 of us booked in for an early supper this week. I was wary as I'd heard it had been taken over and on previous visits we'd found the food and staff to be excellent Lawrence took over 7 weeks ago and luckily has kept the... More

The George has been a public house for over 170 years and is first shown on the Tithe Map from 1840. Nestled into the rolling hills of the Sussex South Downs National Park The George is just off the beaten track in the small village of Eartham, perfectly situated just 6 miles from the bustling city of Chichester and within 10 miles of Petworth, Midhurst and Arundel. A traditional English pub, it provides a comfortable and welcoming place to visit whatever the season. There are three open fires for those cool autumn and winter evenings and a pretty garden to sit out in on bright summer days. There is a selection of good walks and cycle routes in this area including Eartham woods, The South Downs Way and a particularly interesting section of Stane Street (56 mile long Roman Road connecting Chichester to London) located an easy 1/2 mile walk from the pub. The George is a privately owned Freehouse and your hosts Anita & James offer a warm welcome to all. We are proud to offer good honest British food with a seasonal menu taking advantage of locally sourced ingredients plus a selection of traditional roasts for your Sunday Lunch. Whether you want a full meal or only a light bite, your food is freshly prepared to order. In our well kept cellar we include a wide selection of English, Commonwealth & New World wines, English Mead and soft drinks. There are always 4 or 5 choices of Real Ales sourced from local and national quality breweries. We also have a wide range of English Lagers, Ciders and bottled Beers.
