We went to Purnell's for the 'Brummie Tapas' and it was absolutely fabulous - I enjoyed every mouthful. In addition to the wonderful food the staff were delightful and the atmosphere welcoming. It's a great place for a special occasion.

After an amazing lunch here in the summer we had to return to try the new autumn menu. The 6 course dinner was beautiful. We started with an uninspiring sounding cheese and pineapple which was a delicious creamy cheesy base with pineapple in the sauce and way nicer than it sounds. The next course was a poached duck egg yolk,... More

Took my wife to Purnell's for her birthday and it did not disappoint. Stunningly presented and amazing tasting food, the most friendly and attentive service. We opted for the 6 course Autumn menu which was more than enough food! Its not cheap but worth every penny for the experience! Great to see that Chef Purnell was in the kitchen too!

Lucky enough to try the 9 course tasting menu with paired wines. Each course was perfectly executed, some really novel touches. The monkfish masala which won 2009 fish course on Great British Menu was a stand out dish. Well matched wines, good service , not cheap but worth it.

Birthday treat from my daughter the nine course taster menu. The waiter was friendly and informed and when he didn't know he asked. The food was awesome especially the masala monkfish OMG! Every course was exceptional and we both left with a huge smile privet but worth every penny 👍

Exquisitely good food (6 course Autumn Tasting Menu) that evoked emotional childhood memories and touched my heart. Outstanding attention to detail and impeccable service. Thank you Chef for such an enjoyable belated birthday meal and for signing our menu but especially for taking the time to come out to meet us during service. Very much appreciated and made an already... More

We visited the restaurant on 14th September to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. From the moment we sat down we were attended by knowledgeable and friendly staff. We had a view of the kitchen from our table and were able to see chef leading his brigade. Certainly no sign of a Hells Kitchen atmosphere just well organised and well drilled... More

My partner took me for a birthday treat. Great service, inventive dishes, splendid balance of flavours and a decent lineup of staff. I had one tiny reservation on what turned out to be the only average dish, which was introduced as a "celebration of potatoes" - hmmm, not quite, but the irony wasn't lost on me. Every other dish was... More

Having recently dined with a group of friends choosing the chefs table we were not disappointed. We are a group of seasoned caterers and experienced chefs who are not easy to please..every dish was presented exceptionally well, every dish tasted fantastic and the wine chosen to accompany each course by the sommelier matched perfectly. The atmosphere was relaxed and there... More

Had a great lunch. The staff were the right level of attentive. The food was excellent. It was very expensive, but it felt like a treat.
