This place is a real hidden gem. After seeing the good reviews we decided to try it for dinner, and we weren't disappointed. The staff were attentive and welcoming, and the place has a really authentic Polish feel to it. I had the Russian dumplings for the main which were delicious, as was the apple pie for dessert. With low... More

The Karczma is a cosy little restaurant with a real Polish feel to it. It has a very interesting menu of traditional dishes and the ones chosen by our party were excellent. It was such a shame therefore that most of us just couldn't clear the plates. The portions are extremely generous and we all agreed that the taste and... More

Having missed the praise-filled national newspaper reviews, and the glowing Trip Advisor recommendations, we happened on this place by accident late one Saturday afternoon while exploring Birmingham. First visit definitely won't be the last. Hearty, tasty, deeply satisfying (and filling) dishes, great atmosphere, good service. Work up an appetite before you go, and leave happy. Beef stew, filled dumplings, pork... More

We visited the Karczma with high expectations, which were more than met. Undeterred by the appearance of the restaurant from the outside, once inside you're met with a quirky, homely decor and friendly service. We ordered the mixed pierogi to share, which were more than enough between us as a starter. Delicious stuffed dumplings arrived, slathered with lardons. Then arrived... More

We had a few dishes but none of them was simple. All of the food was perfect. From the plate, atmosphere to the finest food. Will be back soon.

We had a super meal here today. Please don't be put off by the outside. The interior is charming and quirky. The starts were so tasty we tried the hearty rye soup, the chicken noodle soup and the sheep cheese wrapped in bacon. All of them were very enjoyable and large portions. Even my daughter who can be a picky... More

I have never really eaten Polish food before until a Polish friend recommended this place. It's really cute and rustic inside and is a great place to go for a meal with friends, although there are some more intimate booths available too should you so desire. We tried the speciality soup with smoked sausage and potato which was delicious, I... More

We enjoyed our evening at The Karczma, very nice atmosphere and nice décor. The service was good but we did have quite a period between main meal and desert when we felt alittle more attention would have been good e.g. asking if we wanted anymore drinks. Also the desert which was lovely except for the ice cream which seemed to... More

I visited in July and had a fantastic dining experience. I found the food to be cooked exceptionally and provided a real authentic Polish experience. Do not be tricked by the drab outside the inside has excellent decor. Menu is large and very well priced.

Description
The Karczma is a traditional Polish restaurant, bar and grill located in the heart of Birmingham, just 5min walk from both the Bull Ring Shopping Centre and Moor Street Rail Station.

Restaurant is decorated in the style of an old Polish country cottage seating 85 people across 2 rooms.

The menu is designed to reflect a homely, hearty and rustic food that's quintessentially Polish, and prepared using only the very best quality ingredients.

The menu contains numerous Polish classics including Pierogi (stuffed dumplings), Berszcz (Beetroot soup), Pickled Herring, Zurek (Pickled Rye Flour Soup) served from a hollowed out loaf of bread, as well as a whole host of grilled meats and fish.

We wish you a pleasant stay and Enjoy !!!
