Visited here for lunch today and we all had a wonderful time! One of the nicest lunches we've had in years.
We thought we'd meet in Stratford Upon Avon for a change and we were deciding between here, the Windmill and another place and couldn't...be happier we chose here. Everything from the atmosphere, the chilled but fast service, heating, decor, the beer, the FOOD! was just top notch.
My friends had the duck pate and salmon starter which looked delicious & they LOVED. Dave had baked camembert (I dug into it!) and I had minted pea soup and wow, nicest soup I've ever tasted. The camembert was so flavourful with fresh rosemary and roasted garlic.
For mains Dave had the pie of the day with gravy which couldn't be faulted. Lovely smooth, creamy mash. I had the blue cheese tart special and chunky chips, it didn't disappoint! Delicious and hope it's on specials again next time we come back! My friends had the hallomi salad and salmon and prawn salad which looked divine (hope my pro pics did it justice, tongue in cheek!). A small but varied menu which left us all pleased!
We didn't stop laughing from start to finish which is testament to what a lovely environment we found ourselves in today, was just supposed to be a random Wednesday lunch but ended up having the best time in a long, long time. Thanks to the pretty blonde lady serving, very efficient and worked hard the whole time we were there. Nothing was too much trouble! Sorry we didn't get your name! You deserved a proper mention.
I highly recommend anyone visit 'the old thatch tavern', we will certainly be back the next time we want to venture further afield. Sanitizar everywhere, and hilariously enough we had our forehead temps taken on the way in and luckily none of us were caught sneaking out and about with COVID! First place I've been to taking temperatures, and various other measures, made us feel totally safe. Thank you!
Oh only two of us could squeeze in dessert. My hubby had the apricot crumble and my friends shared the strawberry and apple crumble and both said they were to die for but were ready to burst because the portions were so big!More
