Visited after reading favourable reviews here. It's up a side street and was busy when we went in. Great for a Tuesday night. I had the fish soup and it was actually worth the drive down here on its own. The main was OK, but then we seemed to get ignored. No one asked if we were ok, wanted another... More

I first recall visiting this place around 1996. Loved it then and certainly enjoyed the place earlier this year when I attended for a friends birthday celebration with a table of about 15 of us. Panis lived up to their reputation serving up great food with great service also and considering this was a Saturday evening and the place was... More

Having booked in for lunch, party of three,we had an excellent experience at Jamie's,such a vibrant place and atmosphere.Staff were spot on,not too much around but there when needed.Menu excellent, homemade breads and pate to start,we would recommend, then the best pizzas in town, the Porkie and a pulled lamb off the specials board.Prawn and tomato linginu also very good. I've been eating & drinking at Pani's for 20+ years and they have never failed to serve great honest Italian food. I should know the menu inside out by now but it's one of those places where you thought you knew what you want but then you see the Specials Board and you end up pondering what you want to... More

Up from London for my brother's birthday weekend. Watched Newcastle v Brentford followed by a superb meal here. Wonderful friendly service, excellent food and generous portions. Place was rammed - no surprise as everything was brilliant.

Called in for lunch with my wife on a Monday lunchtime. It is literally 2 mins walk from Grey's Monument. Quickly shown to a table and drinks order taken. Normal menu and 'Specials' board on offer. We chose the Pani's Bruschetta as a starter with the Rigatoni special and the Spaghetti with Scallops special. The starter was very tasty. The... More

I've been here a few times and always had a good meal. This time it wasn't quite as good. I was part of a party of about 10-12. I ordered garlic bread to start and melanzane parmiggiano for my main course - my favourite. When it arrived it had obviously been cooked to inferno temperatures either by being microwaved or... Pani's Café opened January 1995 and run by a family of brothers and sisters. It was one of the first Italian style café in Newcastle. As authentically Italian as you can get without actually going to Italy. In Pani's Café you can find a different menu for day and night and a constantly updated special board. We offer you the chance to experience Italian home cooked food and to savour an authentic Italian coffee in a convivial atmosphere. A little piece of Italy in the heart of a beautiful city!!!
