Given our really positive experience, I'm slightly surprised to see the mixed reviews received by this bistro. We visited for Sunday lunch, on a voucher deal, and were impressed by the range and quality of starters available. We both had roast beef for mains and this was tender and tasty with good veg and yorkies. We decided to share one... More

Staff were friendly and attentive and the place was nice and clean. The menu was limited that we had (a set meal), when it came it looked really nice but didn't really match on flavor. I probably wouldn't eat here again as there are so many nicer restaurants in Newcastle. Cocktails were expensive but nice.

On the previous night we had a free cocktails as part od the deal for our stay which was super and the service was excellent. The following morning we had breakfast which was excellent - the full English looked good but as we had had a large meal the night before we had the continental which was excellent with loads... Went to Malmason on wifey bday today booked it online it was simple and straight fww. The staff was amazing they were all very nice and friendly and switched on and not once we felt rushed plus the staff seem to have more life experience so they have a bit more crack and personality than establishments of same quality, which... Stopped in for the two course lunch and it was fantastic, fresh seasonal food which was perfect, one of the best meals that I have had in Newcastle this year. Fantastic service from Shaun and his team in a great setting on the quayside! Would strongly recommend and will be going again soon!

If you travel on business, the table for one is never going to be your favourite place. In a busy brasserie on a Sunday night, even less so. And it appears to be the table that the staff are least interested in too. Perhaps it's because on a % percentage they know any top will be lower then they will... More

My partner and I dined here during our stay at the Malmaison, I was looking forward to the menu but in all honesty for a vegetarian and gluten intolerant pair we were really limited. The beautifully decorated restaurant seems to lack atmosphere, however the bar area makes up for that with the friendly staff and laid back surroundings. Personally I... More

We ate here while staying at the hotel and had a good meal at a reasonable price. We were greeted immediately we arrived and offered a selection of tables to sit at. Decor was modern in keeping with the rest of the hotel but was a bit dark and sombre. Service throughout was friendly and effective but we had difficulty... More

We booked the private dining, this was probably the mistake. The set menu was £32 with a basic menu. My father ordered the pasta. This was served in a pan! A pan full of pasta that could have fed 3 people!! It was overcooked!!! The pork was a lump of fat with little meat. Vegetables... as usual four bowls of... More

We ate here to celebrate our son's graduation. We've previously eaten at the Brasserie and Bar at Malmaison, Oxford so we kind of knew what to expect. We'd booked on the dinner, bed and breakfast package for my husband and myself. As such we had the choice of the Prix Fixe menu or £25 towRds and la carter choice. As... More
