Went here for restaurant week but actually chose the main menu as it had so many great options including gluten free! The food was great (especially the rabbit pappardelle). The staff were lovely and the prices good especially for the area the restaurant is in! Definitely worth visiting and would go back.

I attended here on Monday 16th for the first day of Newcastle's restaurant week but we actually ended up ordering off the main menu. It was quiet as we had a table booked mid afternoon and so the lunchtime rush was over. This made it peaceful and we were able to sit and chat easily. I ordered the Carpaccio of... More

Good food with good veggie options. Shared platter starters - meaty and veggie - were huge and delicious: I never realised fresh pear went so well with mozarella. But the main thing: delicious fresh pasta! It's so unusual in Italian restaurants but it's not difficult; even Tesco sells it these days. Pizza thin crispy and tasty. Waiting staff lovely. Will... Having travelled all day from the South Coast up to Newcastle with work some work colleagues and I found this restaurant on an intranet search engine and we were glad we did! From stepping inside we were treated to a restaurant that had many nooks and crannies which gave you a very private dining experience. Although fairly busy the layout... More

I took 3 members of my family from the south of England to enjoy one of my most favourite restaurants in Newcastle. They weren't disappointed, in fact Dan said that he would return to Newcastle just to eat here again! The food was first rate, the service was exceptional and the 3 hours we spent in the restaurant were most... More

First time for us, nice setting, although the place felt a little cold. City centre location as well, so plenty places to go before or afterwards for those who may be inclined. Pleasant and attentive waitress who knew what all 6 of us had ordered, so when the food came she was able to allocate it straight away, without the... More

Very enjoyable, dinner was lovely. Staff were nice. A young blonde haired lady was fantastic, so accommodating & still so enthusiastic after a long day. Only downfall was the chocolate cake in the shared desserts was terrible. I would return

Visited Marco Polo last week and the food was excellent. The steaks were brilliantly cooked as ordered and the pork was also really tasty. The waitress was really friendly and helped us to choose the wine without an issue, especially as we didn't like the taste of the first bottle after it has been opened. Definitely worth a visit!

Description
Marco Polo is an Italian bistro that is celebrating its 42nd year of trading. We are an independent restaurant and locally owed. We offer a wide range of pizza/pasta and consider this to be our bread and butter. However we really come in to our own on the a la carte side of the menu. All our dishes are prepared on site and deliver extremely good value. The restaurant is always busy and has great atmosphere. We can cater for most requests. We take reservations and also hold a number of tables back for walk-in custom. So if you're passing pop in.
