Just a quick drink to refuel amongst Sunday diners. Not much atmosphere. Food looked OK but not for us. Gets most of its business on race days as right next to the entrance to the racecourse.

Just an average pub right next to Newcastle Racecourse. At the time it was extremely busy and there didn't appear to be anywhere near enough staff on duty. Okay, but nothing special.

Eight of us plus 4 dogs decided to have a family get together and it is always very difficult with 4 dogs. However on a filthy day last week we arrived at the Border Minstel as we had heard it had been "done out". Must admit I haven't been to the Border for many years. However Craig asked how many... I can't recommend this pub highly enough, we went in for Sunday lunch with our cockapoo and there were plenty of bowls of water for the furry friends. The food was delicious, excellent portions, beautifully cooked and well presented. We both had the beef which was outstanding. We planned on just having lunch, but we were enjoying ourselves so much... More

Reading some of the previous reviews I wonder where some people go for food if they are not happy with the food here!! We have visited this place quite a few times this year as we had been informed that it had been refurbished. This place serves very good food at reasonable prices and the beer selection is very good.... More

Just been for Sunday lunch and have to say how disappointed we were. I have been before at lunchtime during the week and found dead the food lovely and portion sizes good. However today was a huge let down, we all had the beef which in fairness was delicious, but to only be served with half a carrot, half a parsnip... As a family of 4 my wife son and daughter all disappointed. My so called Tiger prawn curry was not, as the prawns I couldn't even describe as mini. Though the barman said he would not charge for the prawns. Value for money Terrible. My Daughters Cumberland Sausage and Mash, Again not Cumberland Sausage and the mash supposed to have... More

Very basic Sunday Lunch for £8.95. Tough chicken breast, almost burnt Yorkshire pud, mushy parsnip and watery gravy. We ate it as we were very hungry! The worst part of our visit was that for the majority of it we felt ignored and unattended. If anyone had bothered to ask , we would have liked desserts and more drinks. We... More

Popped in while dog walking for a quick pint and the acting manager could not have been any more helpful. Turned the TV on and sorted water out for the dog, nothing was a problem. He told us he is getting interviewed for the managers job this week and I hope he gets it as he had a quick chat... More
