I wasn't satisfied with my curry experiences in Gosforth until I discovered The days of the Raj. It is a bit of a hidden gem located slightly north of Gosforth high Street so is easily missed. It is located above the Golfing Store and next...to the Great North Road petrol station and would benefit from better lighting and signage if the Planning Department would allow this to promote its existence I so hope all our favourite restaurants survive this damaging lockdownMore

As a regular user of this establishment I expected better. An order arrived minus a naan bread ~ upon contacting the restaurant immediately I was informed that it would take at least 20 minutes to send one (I live less than 1 mile away). I...told them not to bother. No compensation/refund/apology was received. I will not be using this place again.More

I’ve gone past this restaurant hundreds of times without really noticing it. A friend suggested dropping in as we were near - I am so pleased that he did. Very clean and smart inside. It wasn’t busy so we had great service with attentive, helpful...and efficient staff. The food was excellent, I had a vegetarian, motor panir(?) after recommendation by the waiter who said, ‘It’s peas and cheese but tastes much better than it sounds!” He was right!! It is upstairs so if you have a mobility issue - check before you go. But do go!More

Popped for a meal whilst waiting to pick up our kids. Couldn't believe the food, the best we've ever had (& we've tried a lot!) We can't wait to go back with our children. The restaurant was immaculate & the service was great, we weren't...rushed or anything. Such a good experience, highly recommended.More

Had family over from Holland thought would be nice to get take away. Spend £75 on stone cold take away. Rang to complain would investigate and ring me back. Still waiting.

Great restaurant & my take away of choice food is consistently excellent. One of the great things is they’ll do u any meat in any curry which makes a nice change. I recommend the duck dishes

Just had a take away from here and we ordered the chicken tika masala with onion baji starter. The sauce for onion baji was illuinois yellow and tasted awful and the masala was a wierd off colour and didn't taste like a masala sauce at...all. The nan was crumbly and tbh I've had better microwave meals. Would never order from here again.More

We only live across the road from the place and only decided to visit short notice the other night and we were not diasapointed! Lovely friendly staff who served us great food and a lovely pint of kingfisher! Can not fault the staff who were...super friendly. We will definitely go again and recommend the lamb masala which was AMAZING!More

After work I decided to go for a meal The pickles and popadoms were welcoming and the first time I have ever really enjoyed lime pickle. The starter mixed kebab was lovely and presented in a very artistic way which made it taste even nicer....The main jalfrezi was gorgeous. The blend of fresh spices was the best I have ever had but I will try the house jalfrezi next time as I was advised the sauce is thicker. Had to try the desser. There were the standard fair cheesecake and chocolates cake but they all had an Indian flourish to them. The most ostentatious was either the sorbet or the coconut. I went for the coconut which was lovely. Cobra on tap and the nan bread was lovel. Faultless service aswell. I will be back.More

Ordered a takeaway as we had friends staying from London with us. Was disgusted! The chicken tikka masalas were an off colour and tasted gross, we couldn’t even stomach it!! The lamb dish had some massive nuts in which was not stated. Overall extremely dissatisfied...and will NEVER go back. If you do go please don’t eat the chicken tikka masala my god. BADMore
