An amazing experience

An amazing experience to take my boyfriend for his birthday! You collect your salad after sitting down and drinks are served - chips and horseradish included in the payment. Once you’re ready for steak, you flip your card to green and then meat will be brought round to you and will keep doing so until you flip your card back over to red again. All food was gorgeous and such an interesting experience! We had the best view also and staff made us feel so welcome and helped celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday!

High end buffet concept

Visited with some friends on a Saturday evening. Nice, helpful staff, and the food quality was good, but the concept wasn't quite what I was expecting or wanted. It's an upmarket 'all-you-can-eat' concept, where you select your starters, and accompaniments to the mains from a buffet. The choice is good, and includes some quality ingredients. Then they walk around the restaurant with different meats on a skewer, and you ask for small pieces of whatever you want. You have a time limit, but we found there was plenty of time and were full very quickly, after trying rump, sirloin, fillet, lamb, etc. but you tend to get it however it's been cooked, which was 'blue' in some cases, and too rare for my 'medium rare' taste. Personally, I would rather have just selected the steak I wanted, the way I like it cooked, but I get the concept, and it seemed very popular.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Rio Steakhouse , and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with every steak bursting with flavour . The customer service was outstanding— every staff member was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. The waiters were incredibly polite and professional, adding a special touch to the evening. The ambiance was perfect, with a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that made the celebration feel extra special. I can’t wait to go back!

Visited Rio at Newcastle Quayside with my husband and very disappointed at the whole experience. First impressions were the tables were all crammed together clearly to get as many people in as possible. The buffet was ok but I’ve had far better elsewhere. The waiters all seemed to work hard but the quality of meat was poor and at times very fatty/grizzly. One of the waiters cut a very fatty piece of meat so I asked if I could have some without the grizzle and he was quite abrupt and told me to cut it off. They also bring out the sausage and chicken a lot more in my opinion to encourage the cheaper meats. This restaurant is no more than an expensive buffet with a gimmick where waiters can manage the meat distribution. Needless to say, I won’t be returning…

Unfortunately had my first awful experience

Firstly this is actually quite a difficult review to write. As you can see from my previous review I actually frequent rios both as a couple and as a family.. it has always been our “go too” and unfortunately on the afternoon of October 28th the service was utterly atrocious Now this will no doubt be easier if I just leave bullet points rather than tell a story of my trip - Arrived and was taken to a table and had to ask twice for a high chair for my toddler (stood up holding him for around 10 minutes as he won’t sit in a normal seat) - Meat was being served to the table.. again we had to ask twice for the complimentary chips. Finally one portion of chips arrived between us.. no sauce or the little bread dough balls. - now the most disappointing was the meat, cuts of very fatty meat which is typically absolutely faultless - the cover behind us took over an HOUR to be cleared - I appreciate it was half term.. there were a lot of people however, these were all families so actually very few covers to serve (I counted 5 covers in total the time we were there) - I then ordered a bottle of beer, 30 minutes later still no beer so I told the waiter I no longer wanted it as we’d finished our meal and would like the bill - for the first time ever of visiting your restaurant I asked for the discretionary service charge to be removed. I have NEVER, asked for this in the last two years I’ve been visiting. The manager took off 20% as a “goodwill gesture” aka an apology however, this just had to be voiced just how of a poor experience this was. We typically visit once a month and I’ve not returned for date night this month

Not worth it anymore and service is minimal

After 3 years it has finally become a left done because of the lack in service and lack of steak they want to offer you. You used to get steak after steak services to you but know they want to give you cheaper meats like chicken, turkey and pork instead. Disappointed after our last visit here. At one point I want over 10 minutes to even be offered any red meat.

Fabulous salad

It was not what i expected. When they said "all you can eat" it is not strictly true. You collect your salad which is really the best. Then different waiters visit your table at intervals to offer you a sliver of various meats. Chicken,sirloin stake,pork, garlic chicken etc. Now my mates a big lad and these slivers were just enough to fill the hole left by his missing filling. His words not mine. I don't do garlic and so it was a bit of a wait until the next round of sustenance. Will I go again? Probably not. It is too fiddly and when the salad is the only redeemable item in a steak house?

Over rated

The whole experience is designed to get you in and out as quickly as possible. The meat is ok but genuinely not that special and it’s served at such a ridiculous rate that you don’t really get time to enjoy it. Yes I know you can turn over your green disc etc. but really? Just serve people at a more relaxed rate rather than swarming them and it would be a far more pleasant experience.

Disappointing

Emailed the restaurant the evening after our visit but received no response. Visited with my partner last month, I have been several times before and absolutely love it however this trip was very disappointing. We were seated and drinks order was taken, drinks took a while to come but appreciated it was busy at the time. Waitress dropped our drinks and didn’t say anything in relation to the food or prompt us so we got up on our own accord to go to the salad bar. I can honestly say the entire duration of our night we received no more than 5 samples of meat. It was incredibly slow and spaced out in coming around to the point and some just walked past us and didn’t even offer even though our cards were on green. Our dinner was practically a salad. We then asked for a drinks menu and I had to get up to order the drinks which took far too long considering by this point the restaurant had emptied out significantly. After plates were cleared we weren’t offered desserts- It just felt like we were a total inconvenience to them. Being a regular visitor I was gutted with this experience and felt it was not worthy of the money at all. Love the Rios and the concept but would not return to this establishment and was not a good first impression for my partner!

No good if you like Well Done meat :(

Me and my Husband were gifted a meal from our Daughter and Son In Law for a thank you wedding gift. We did have reservations as we do like our meat well done (we know it’s frowned abon) This turned out to be our biggest fears , even after informing 3 members of staff (once twice) no well done meat was brought round , they tend to go to the largest parties first and they received the outer cuts which were more well done. We did eventually get some well done meat but had filled ourselves with the buffet which I most say was pretty good. But paying £45 pp to fill on salad and pickles wasn’t my ideal meal Amazing place if you like medium rare meat but no good for us , really disappointed and sadly won’t return.

A brilliant lunch in a great location with attentive and welcoming staff.

I took my 15 year old son here on 21st February for lunch and it was fabulous. We arrived ridiculously early for our booking and this wasn't an issue. The guy who showed us to the table explained how everything worked. The salad counter was very well stocked and the meats just kept coming. All very good quality too. The waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive and the setting was great. All in all an excellent experience.

Good, with a few issues.

We arrived to be greeted by a young lady who was polite and friendly. We were seated next to the window, overlooking the Quayside, lovely view. The gentleman who approached ourselves to take the drinks orders came over as a little blunt and wasn't smiling. Desparados was £5.25, Inchs cider was £5.50 and Heineken was £5.80. The salad selection was very limited, compared to another Brazilian steakhouse we've visited in Hull. The vast majority of the meat was cooked to our liking, although the lamb was very fatty and slightly rare for us. The bill came to just over £84 which included an optional 10% service charge, shouldn't automatically be added to bill. There was a crack in one of the windows and disabled access seemed limited as it was on the first floor. All in all I'd still give it 4/5 as the majority of the food was good, as were most of the staff.

A Perfect Birthday Celebration!

We had an incredible dining experience at Rio Brazilian Steakhouse (Quayside) while celebrating my wife's birthday! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The meats were cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and served continuously, making the experience even more enjoyable. The salad bar and sides were also fresh and delicious. A special thank you to Tatiana, who provided outstanding service! She was warm, attentive, and made sure my wife felt special on her birthday. Her kindness and professionalism truly made a difference in our experience. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, perfect for a celebration. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to enjoy this special occasion. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and service!

Joel & Emerson 5 Stars, Staff like Royalty both as people

Rio Brazilian Steakhouse is my favourite restaurant in the world, but the Quayside Rio, you get it ALL, The Best Steaks, Best Service, Views over looking the water on the quayside in Newcastle ( The Toon ) with a beautiful draft as it was a very hot early evening when was down here at 6pm May 2024, was a lovely touch having the window open at the top floor to keep all us customers at the perfect temperature with the stunning view of the quayside water and the only thing that was hot was both the food and the service. I could name all the staff I came across but Joel & Emerson went that extra mile, they gave a service that felt like I was in the Ritz, they went above and beyond and they went the extra miles for me, with those miles they went for me they would have enough air miles to land in Rio :) I don’t often give a note tip, but when you receive the service I received from everyone then you can’t leave anything less than a noted £ tip at the end as the service they provided made you feel like you were a king or queen or a billionaire service, Joel & Emerson, you are a honour and credit to the Rio Steakhouse brand and the powerhouse that is this restaurant. If you want the best food and steaks in England, the views of the beautiful water on Quayside Newcastle and the levels of service that King Charles or the Beckham’s must receive, than look no further book a table and look out for Joel on waiter and table service and customer welfare and Emerson on table service and customer welfare and Emerson part of the team cutting you the best steaks you will eat outside of Brazil & Argentina and this will all make sense when you come and experience a dinner at this restaurant and if I could give a Golden Buzzer review then this would be it. Thank you so much Rio Brazilian Steakhouse Quayside in Newcastle from everyone that was working on my dinner. I must also give a special mention to the lovely gentleman when came too the door, he had so much energy, sassyness, so much joy like myself, a like ability factor that even if you were having a bad day , he could light up the room and yourself, I didn’t get his name but all the staff will know exactly who I am talking about with his description above and so will you on arrival, best entrance I have ever had to a restaurant. Bravo and can’t wait to come back to Newcastle and see you guys again, only one booking and evening in Newcastle Quayside Rio but you get the service and feeling like your already familia 💚💛 Thank you so much Rio Steakhouse Quayside and muito obrigado Jon xx
