This Restaurant didn’t disappoint such a relaxing vibe . Second visit so we tried a few new things from the menu . Firstly we opted for Hyderabadi Lamb Shank main course, this was huge and so tender enough for two people really . Keema Rice and a Keema Nan bread , the best I’ve ever tasted . Also a main course of Malabar Chicken Curry which was so flavoursome with juicy tender meat and a nice kick . Lovely clean restaurant with friendly staff . If you haven’t been please try . Don’t go if you are in a hurry , just sit and relax as they don’t rush serving as they want you to enjoy the culinary delights.

We came here on the 30th June, just ny husband and I. It was Sunday evening and just after the England match so it was very quiet. We were greeted promptly and sat down. Our orders were taken very promptly and food arrived in good time, hot and fresh. I had the sampler to start which was absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed his starter and then the mains came and we had ordered rice each as well. I had a masala dish which was beautiful but after tasting my husbands, I had serious food envy. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was called but it was a chicken dish infused with chilli garlic and Coriander. Its not a typical dish and when asked, the owner said it was their own creation so we wouldn't find it anywhere else. It was absolutely amazing! The owner was lovely and friendly and willing to chat. 2 mains, 2 starters, 2 sides and 2 beers came to ÂŁ61! Would absolutely recommend đź‘Ś

We were in Newcastle for a Birthday weekend and on the Friday decided to pop into this Indian restaurant as it wasnt far from our Hotel (Hampton By Hilton, Neville Street) and was on a recommendation list the receptionist had given us.
I think we were lucky to arrive quite Early in the evening and get a table as it soon proved a popular place and filled up quickly. There was a huge table with a stag party on it but thankfuly apart from the noise there was no aggro!
The service was lovely with delightful staff and the lady who served us was very helpful with advice about portion sizes etc...
the food was absolutely the best we have had in a while, it was all lovely and fresh very light and delicious tasting.
If we lived locally we would be regulars without doubt. Also if we were there for longer there would have been a second visit too! Sadly no photos as we were all too busy enjoying the food and it was gone in no time!
The atmosphere is also very nice and I would imagine on evenings without a stag do (if there are any evenings like this in newcastle?) the noise would be a lot less and the ambience a lot more relaxing.

….booked for 6, arrived on time, seated at the wrong table, once moved ordered within 10 minutes, 6.10, starters finally arrived at 7.35, no lie, complained, kept apologising, people in after us were served before us… when the food finally arrived it was ok on my part, I’m not and still am but a massive curry fan, overrated, my friends enjoyed it but have had better, I was excited for a fish curry as a big seafood fan, it was supposed to be a goan monkfish curry but was more like cod in bad supermarket curry, not great, the mushroom pilau was bland and there was very little masala on the masala chips…. In the end we got 10% off the bull which was £17 which didn’t even cover the cheapest bottle of Sauvignon or two beers… ripped, won’t be back, rubbish!!

So pleased we chose to dine here last night. What a fabulous place. Upon walking in you can see the place is spotlessly clean, the young man who welcomed us was excellent... polite, prompt, attentive and very helpful.
The food is simply divine! My wife had the Tikka Masala and I had the Dansak... both by far the best we have ever had.
The young man serving us is a credit to the owners of this restaurant (as is the chef)... would score 6/5 if I could!

We went for restaurant week so the pricing was great (two courses for ÂŁ20) but that was about all I could rave about.
The food was fine but nothing special, there were 5 of us there and they didn't have enough coke to serve us all so only 2 of us were able to get it and they took ages to take our order in the first place.
It's not bad by any means but with the amount of Indian places in the city centre it's got nothing on it's competitors.

I'm not a massive fan of Indian food but this time was for girlfriend who is a big fan of Indian cuisine.
The waiting staff were incredibly friendly and knew the menu very well. I overheard them mentioning where the Mussels were sourced/variety (this wasn't for me), they were incredibly engaging with other customers as well as ourselves.
The food we great and tasted wonderful. I ordered things I've never had before, a Malabar curry and paneer chat tikka. Both were delicious and I would have them again! We had a peshwari naan which was one of the nicest I have had.
My only criticism is the portion size, but I am a big eater so the majority of people it wont be an issue.

We visited Newcastle for a weekend to watch a concert at the arena and wanted to have a curry for grownups with a hint of sophistication and Ayla delivered in spades! The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and a very relaxed environment. You are greeted and served by the most genuine waiters, they know the menu well and offered advice when we asked about specialities and recommendations. We ordered a delightfully fresh beer (one Kingfisher draft and one bottled Cobra) and enjoyed some fresh, crisp popadoms and dips whilst we waited for our starters. I ordered the king prawn with mango and my husband had the kebab, which he described as perfect. We ordered two curries for our main course, one lamb, one chicken, a side of saag aloo and some of the famous naan bread - one garlic and one peshwari. Everything you read about the naan bread is true….they’re fluffy yet crispy and packed full of flavour. The curries themselves were stunning and the attention to detail is unmistakable, in particular the lamb curry was beautiful and a perfect balance of flavours. We would highly recommend this restaurant if you love a good curry but want something a little more sophisticated than your local curry house. The first female head chef of a curry restaurant in Newcastle and it shows as every plate that comes up from the kitchen has been lovingly prepared and the attention to detail is immediately apparent. Good for her, she’s smashing it and she has a very proud husband backing her all the way! We will certainly be back for another visit. Thank you so much

We first visited this restaurant on our last trip to Newcastle. As it was such lovely food on our visit 12 months ago, we decided to eat there again on our first night in the city.
We shared a chicken dish and a lamb dish and they were both as delicious as we’d remembered. Quite often curries can be oily but both dishes were just so flavoursome. Pilau rice, Keema naan and garlic naan were our accompaniments. Both naans were very light and not heavy or stodgy.
Despite us having a huge number of restaurants to choose from for our third night, we went back to Ayla and again chose two different lamb and chicken dishes all washed down with reasonably priced merlot and draught Kingfisher.
I definitely recommend trying Ayla and we’ll definitely be visiting again on our next trip to Newcastle.

The food was tasty but small portions to what we have been use to in a Indian restaurant. The pickle tray was very small for 3 people and the 3 little poppadoms were like crisps. The main concern was, it was not welcoming at all. The restaurant was freezing. We were put near the window and then changed tables as was so cold. It didn't make any difference as it was still so cold. Our booking was 8.30 so I would have expected it to be warm by then if they only put heating on when opens. The waiter kept going to the front door where the heater blew hot air out when it sensed someone was there but it didn't make any difference. Wouldn't recommend as couldn't get out quick enough to go and get warm.

We had been recommended Ayla and decided to give it a whirl before a gig at City Hall. We arrived a few minutes early and were welcomed in, sat in a lovely window seat, offered drinks and menu’s and advised that the kitchen opens at 1700hrs - one could not wish for a warmer welcome. A selection of starters and mains were ordered and we were placed in the hands of Shahan who was just fabulous throughout. The food is simply brilliant. There are some pretty good Indian restaurants in Newcastle, but this is right up there. I would thoroughly recommend Ayla to anybody who enjoys great food, fantastic service and a great value for money meal

We have been regular customers to Ayla for a year and a half now, there’s a reason we keep coming back. Outstanding customer service from every member of staff, always greeted and served with a smile, very attentive and always willing to help. The food is always 10/10, so delicious! My family had never tried this type of cuisine before and they were pleasantly surprised. The taste is absolutely amazing and the presentation of the food is always top notch. We will continue to return to Ayla, it’s our favourite.

A modern quite small restaurant at the bottom of one of the best streets in the UK.
Welcome was fine as were staff throughout. A menu that breaks away from pure traditional dishes.
Mains served in large porcelain bowls so you had to add rice into the dish. I’d have preferred a plate. Food was good, though naans a little small.

4 of us were at this sitting a couple of weeks ago.
I had been here with our curry club a couple of months ago so wanted to return with my wife, brother and his partner.
We were ushered to a large table which was being prepared for us as it was a bit larger than the other couple of vacant tables. A very nice start.
So many positives to be found in here.
Starters were delicious, prawn on puree, a slightly different chicken chat and an onion bargee fondly met our taste buds and scored top marks.
Mains are superb in here, so fresh and so tasty. My hotter then usual madras was exceptional in its flavour. Very, very nice.
2 murgh morich dhonias were sampled which again were sublime in their taste and creativity. A malabar curry was also ordered which was great . Rices and naans are also top of the tree in Ayla.
To say the service was exemplary also is worth mentioning. A very friendly and attentive host with a good team of front of house staff was always available.
Drinks are sensibly priced with our whole bill for the 4 of us which included 3 courses, 2 bottles of wine and 6 large bottles came to ÂŁ171, very good value.
You must try it as I am sure you will love it.

Booked online for a table for 3 on a winter evening in late December. Warm welcome by the staff and shown to our table. Very attentive staff and drinks were ordered. Their Bombay bicycle IPA is a nice drop, as is their Peacock Indian Cider (mango and lime flavour) . We ordered starters of the smashed samosa and the paneer...both were excellent (and thanks to the waiter for advising on the best dishes to try). For main I had the prawn biryani...which was so hearty that I couldn't finish it. The jackfruit dish was reported on as incredibly tasty too while the Murgh dish was also very good!. Finished off with a cup of Masala tea and 3 very happy eaters. Bill with drinks came in at just under ÂŁ100 so great value too.
