We dined here on a Saturday night at 7.15pm; we booked, but didn't really have to, it was not full. It was generally rather quiet. The staff were friendly apart from one who appeared bored, and as a result he had a habit of 'throwing' the dishes onto the table! A strange way to impress customers. Poppadums - okay, but... More

Went here for a meal while working in the area. We love Indian food, but this was really special. The service was attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back if we are in the area again

I am a regular patent of Newcastle's Indian restaurants and have to say, I have never felt more uncomfortable and unwelcome than I did tonight. It felt as though they were doing me a favour. Had to ask for drinks. My sister-in-laws prawns were like bullets. I could hear the kitchen whizzing machines which were so loud we couldn't hear... More

Living in a hotel for 7 weeks meant the limited food options were beginning to drive me up the walls when I first tried Rani's. Been back again since as the food was spectacularly good, the service great and efficient, and all around it was one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever eaten in. Definitely worth a visit,... The food was good however, the staff seemed under pressure despite the restaurant not being full. It took a long time to be served and to have our empty plates removed. It alos took a long time to receive the bill at the end of the night.

4 of us went for a meal. It was busy but far from full. We arrived at 8pm. Starters arrived at 8.30 and were average at best. At 10pm we were still waiting on mains despite asking clueless staff who had no idea! We left at 10:05. Absolute joke of a restaurant with shambolic service. Avoid!

We spent 3 nights at Newcastle recently and the curry was so good I came back every night. Quality of meat and all ingredients were exceptional and possibly one of my best indian curry experiences.

We called into this restaurant on a Saturday night without a booking and were shown to a table after a 40 minute wait (thought he said 15 min wait). The choice of food on the menu was pretty good and i ordered my usual dish of lamb boti, chicken dupiaza, veg pilau rice, bombay potatoes and a nan(no chapatis on menu!).The food when it... We've been to Rani's a number of times and always found it good. This Saturday we'd booked a table for a family meal and on arrival found the staff as welcoming as ever. The food was excellent but our waiter was verging on the edge of being downright rude from his demeanour and general attitude ( this was felt by... More
