coffee and cake in here was amazing, a really lovely place to visit and get away from the hustle and bustle of city centre life

My wife and daughter recently spent 3 nights in this hotelReally excellent meals taken. On their first evening they had dinner in the Bridge Restaurant while on their second day they took afternoon tea. On both occasions the food was excellent. For dinner on the first evening they started with an 'Amuse-bouche'. The starters were a plate of Chargrilled Flatbread,... More

Our visit got off to an odd, surprising start with no menus available in the restaurant "until they had got some back". Even then the delay from receiving menus to actually taking our order was over 1 hour after the time the table was booked for. Food service was very slow, with some of the serving staff appearing to have... More

We went for afternoon tea which didn't disappoint. There's tons of good food and the cocktails are amazing but very strong. Service is excellent too

Very pleasant staff. Our waiter was great and very helpful. Would recommend the 3-course menu with bottle of wine. You can choose anything from the regular menu and pay a supplement if you choose more expensive items. Very good prawn cocktail and steaks.

We have eaten here on several occasions now, thanks to a Tastecard which brings it within budget. The menu offers a good choice of dishes: we have had meat, fish and vegetarian options, the cod and smoked salmon are especially good. The wine list is comprehensive but somewhat pricey. Service excellent early evening.

Another meal and another top notch experience. We've had several 'wine and dine' a la cart meals and Sunday lunches and our most recent dinner was again superb. The Vermont itself has a great setting and this is complemented by both the service and quality of food. The restaurant does have a traditional feel about it but it's not tired... More

Booked a table for my birthday after checking the online menu for lunch. Was greeted by an empty dining room and told that they did not serve the lunch menu I had seen online, on their own website, at all! If this was the case, why did the website say otherwise? And why was our booking accepted at all if... More

I visited the Bridge Restaurant on the 24/07/2016. It is located within The Vermont Hotel near Newcastle Railway Station. Upon entering I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance in this place, it is very tastefully decorated, formal, but just about right, you'll feel at home pretty quickly once you are seat. The staff was very friendly and competent, immediately taking... More

Description
Tyne and dine at Newcastles Bridge Restaurant, with its spectacular views over the River Tyne and the soaring arc of the Tyne Bridge. The restaurant is in the Vermont Hotel, a Manhattan-style 1930s tower right next to the remains of the citys medieval castle and close to the revitalised Quayside area. Start with marinated herring with crisp pancetta and honey-mustard vinaigrette or the more substantial confit duck and red onion tart tatin. Then dig in to baked lamp rump with minted lentils and garlic potatoes, or pan-seared wild salmon, braised spring cabbage and clam casserole. You may think youll be able to resist the milk chocolate crme brle with Baileys ice-cream, but thats only because youll fall for the steamed lemon sponge with vanilla crme frache instead.
