We have visited twice recently, just for a lunch time and early evening drink and a bar snack. The staff are attentive and excellent standards. The food is very good. It's so nice to find a traditional pub with such high standards and not ridiculously expensive. We will return very soon!

A really excellent venue, delightfully appointed, with wonderful food and gold star service. Having not been for many years, was more than pleased to find this charming venue still lived up to recommendation. Really could not fault the surroundings, the menu or the service. Can't wait to go again! Maybe even sit in the intruigingly gorgeous garden next time!

We initially admired the outside of the Withies Inn - beautiful garden and building, and then we went inside. The pub has not been updated for a very long time and looking at the clientele, you can see that maybe they prefer the dated look. If it weren't for the Grey pound, I don't think this place would be able... More

If Basil Fawlty had come out of the kitchen, I would not have been surprised. The menu, decor and cooking all harp back to when we were the laughing stock of the culinary world. I would like to thank this place for an unwelcome trip down memory lane, but if you want to eat something semi good please go to... More

This was our first visit to the Withies for some years - our last visit a bad experience but our friends assured us it was worth trying again. The interior is very olde worlde and pubby, a little dark due to small windows and low ceilings but it has a certain charm. Lovely gardens if the weather is good enough... More

it was a surprice to find this pub ,off the beaten track ..might have been a popular spot but we stumbled across it on a sunny sunday afternoon,by chance. beautiful beer garden ,lovely little pond ,and very countryside feel to the whole place. Cant argue with the drink ,as it was cool and refreshing ,( was going to be )... More

I have enjoyed the food, wine & atmosphere at The Withies for 50 years now! Things change a little usually for the better, and lunch there last week was first class.

I went to this restaurant for my birthday. It is a lovely pub in a great surrounding. However the food was terrible. The menu was expensive so I was hoping for something special. I took the seafood pancake which was heavy and the white sauce had too much flour killing the taste of the fish (calamari and prawns from the... More

Just off the beaten track and with an amazing beer garden, a pleasant part of England indeed. Just to sit and watch the world go past. Lunch bar menu is reasonable and the food was lovely, mayonnaise not to our taste, rest was superb. Friendly chatty staff too.

My lovely lady took me back to where she was born and one of her first points of reminiscence was The Withies Inn, a 16th century free house in Compton, not far from Guildford, Surrey. Our quest was for sandwiches and a drink, sitting in the May sunshine. With our backs to the hotel building and looking across at those... More
