We went to lunch on a Monday with friends. There was a lovely welcoming fire and the pub was steady rather than busy so it had a lovely ambience. The landlady has a great sense of humour and very entertaining The Nachos for sharing are a must. The steak and mushroom pie was brilliant as we're the lamb shanks. The... More

The Volunteer we see as our local away from home being it's 45 minuets drive from our home in London. Set in the idyllic surroundings of Abinger Hammer. We both love this pub and will go there when we want to get away from the rat race. Being there is no mobile signal it's a real way of switching off... More

A group of us ate supper only because it was convenient to where we staying. The meat pie on special was OK, the whitebait not bad. Nothing memorable.

Last review was about a year ago and still great place to go for a meal. Good, tasty pub food, friendly service and great location. I had the quiche, chips salad and my partner had the burger. Both very good.

Visted family in surrey and came here for Sunday lunch and it was very impressive, my partner had the pie and said it was the best pie he has ever had! I had lamb on the Sunday lunch and the meat melted in my mouth! Very friendly staff and very dog friendly would defiantly return!

This pub has gradually changed and not for the better in my opinion over the past couple of years. We went this evening after staying away for twelve months, because the food had gone down hill and the staff were not great. We definitely will not be going there ever again, I had fish and chips; which was less than... More

The pub is the thing that Midsommer Murders is made of. Unfortunately the food is not. My pea and ham soup was so thin and tasteless, with chunks of what can only be described as the cut off's of the ham egg and chips left overs. My husband had a tuna sandwich which is hard to get wrong in anyone's... More

I will admit that we weren’t immediately impressed when we got to this pretty pub in the Surrey Hills. We were turned away as apparently the empty dining room was full. We went back in just to question whether that was correct and were served by a different waitress who promptly say us down. My allergies meant there didn’t look... More
