Great early dinner for Mum's 70th: grandparents, parents and teenage daughters. All of us loved it. Wonderful, fairy tale location - well worthy seeking out. Excellent service and attention to detail. Comfy dining chairs! Superb food: everything that everyone chose was first class. Chef popped out to say hello to everyone and ask what we all thought of the food.... More

Fabulous location in a Surrey dale. Very good service, excellent beer selection (Tillingbourne Tuesday), and good food. Lively evening at the picnic tables, crowded with lots of good conversation. Couldn't bring myself to swim in the mill pond...

Excellent food (and the best fat chips I've had in a very long time!). 9 of us had lunch there - we'd planned a walk and then lunch in this beautiful part of Surrey but heavy rain meant we just did lunch. They were very accommodating and we enjoyed our meal.

Dinner for my Fathers birthday, food excellent. all 4 of us had something different for starter and main course and all of us were astounded by how good it was. Chef really was a perfectionist, was very friendly and came to ask how we found our food. I would seriously rate this as one of the best dinners I have... More

We had an unbooked early dinner on a week night. The food, both starter (roasted goats cheese) and main course (fish) was excellent and plentiful, with an emphasis on good fresh ingredients rather than fancy cooking. There were several options on the menu we fancied. The service was very friendly, from the bar staff, the cook and the management, so... More

Came here a couple of years ago and it was a good little pub, now under new management (sometime in the last year, or so). Coincidentally, we met the chef just as we came in and he was very enthusiastic about the provenance of his produce which set our expectations. Well, maybe because it was a Sunday the menu was... Visited for Sunday lunch with family and friends, lovely setting and a great place to go if you want to walk in beautiful woods before or after lunch. Very limited menu. We skipped starters and went for the roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roar potatoes and 'winter' veg. The food was passable but virtually tasteless . The roast potatoes were either... More

After a good walk in the Surrey woods, this pub is a good find. Parking is a nightmare with thoughtless customers but ther is a public park up the hill 50 metres away. Limited outside area, a small dog friendly bar area and a formal restaurant zone. Menu typical, friendly and efficient staff although tested by a large table.

Took my parents here for a birthday lunch. After a truly stunning drive through deepest Surrey we arrived to howls of delight from my mother at the location of the pub and the greeting of the lovely pub dog. Initial impressions set the scene and expectations were high as we walked in. It was a Thursday lunchtime so nice and... More

Visited here for the first time in December 2015. A great welcome from the land lady, she was a real treat. The food absolutely top notch, the chef done a wonderful job and the food was a real delight to the taste buds. Was introduced to some great beers, which I had never tried before ( now live in Australia... More
