We've had mixed experiences at The Anchor. First of all, the food generally dictates this as a destination pub. On occasion we've been disappointed, mincemeat curry comes to mind, i.e. Kheema Curry. Ok it's authentic, but the accompaniments for Kheema on the Indian sub continent are not boiled rice and a poppodom! An unwillingness on that ocassion almost left it... More

We popped in this Saturday for lunch. We chose the crayfish cocktail sandwich, beef samosa and bread with dips.My husband really enjoyed his open sandwich which had a good portion of fresh salad, granary bread with the crayfish on top!the dips were delicious one being the classic houmous but we had never had better and the other was smoked aubergine which we really... This was the first time we had eaten at the anchor and were not disappointed. The food was tasty and well presented and has a decent selection although only one choice for vegetarians which was a surprise. Desserts were particularly good.

On Quay Street opposite the theatre, this Greene King pub had a decent pint of IPA. Welcome & Service a bit off hand but the food was good pub nosh. Good pork and leek sausages with mash concentrated onion gravy. A slab of slow cooked pork belly combined fall-apart sweet tenderness with crunchy integral crackling – good work chef! Fondant... We had been here before several times and was always pleased with food. We decided to pop in for lunch and ordered the shared Camembert. Was a little disappointed as it was a small portion and not what I was expecting for two! The mains were good , curry and gammon steak. Glad we went early as it soon got... More

Visted the pub for Friday lunch and struggled to find a table in the bar area as we had our canine friend with us. Certainly this is the area I prefer as I like pubs to be pubs that also serve food. At the rear is the real eating area so most people will be well catered for. The food... More

Well what can I say. We came in for a beer or 2 and thought this is nice. We had a walk around Woodbridge and came back to find no tables available for food because it was so popular. We asked to give us a shout if a table became free and luckily it did. The food was amazing!!!! We... More

This is probably the best pub in Woodbridge. It feels very food orientated at the back but the pub area at the front is lovely. The beef croquettes we started with were so good we thought we'd peaked too soon, but the Thai red curry (prawn) that followed was just exceptional. Unusually good beer for a Greene King pub and... Arrived in Woodbridge for a weekend away and had dinner in this pub after a trip to the cinema opposite. Friendly staff and good service. Food good and reasonably priced. Cosy, unspoilt traditional pub. Would recommend.

Went here for lunch whilst out shopping in Woodbridge. Friendly staff and lovely food. Hubby had the steak, I had the sausage and mash with very yummy onion and ale gravy. Will be visiting again soon.
