A great pub with a good selection of Adnams beers and wide selection of food. Sunday lunch and you would expect only a roast. But not here, a full menu for a all tastes. We went with the roast beef, good size portion which stayed hot. We ate the lot! I fully recommend this pub, but book as it gets... More

Thursday evening: Three course meal with a relatively inexpensive wine was over £100 for two, which didn't feel like value for money. Particularly as the desert did not live up to the description and the service could have been better. The ambience was good, the dining area has lots of character and was candle lit.

Three of us ate here recently , as a pre cinema meal.Quite large portions.Nothing special or memorable about the food.Service friendly but slow and not well co-ordinated.Rather gloomy and shabby dining room..needs some T L C and fresh paint. Venue of last resort.

Came in for a quick lunch. Served quickly and food arrived without too long a wait. Sausuage flatbread lovely. Good sausages and just right amount of side salad. Good selection of beers. Never disappoints.

Went in at lunch yesterday and it quickly filled up. Staff were very friendly and helped to create the atmosphere which has old men sitting reading at the bar, families eating, couples having lunch and business meetings. Afghan stew was lovely and range of other foods was good as demonstrated by people waiting for tables. Only slight criticism is that... More

We visited on 15th December for our pub quiz team Christmas meal. We all ordered the Christmas turkey dinner. I can honestly say it was the best Christmas meal I have ever had. The red cabbage was absolutely delicious but everything was cooked to perfection. The Christmas pudding was also wonderful Can't recommend this highly enough - great pub and... More

This pub has tables you can book at the back or just for a drink in the bar. The food is typical pub grub, but is very well done. I shared a meze platter and olives and bread with friends then had a very good fish pie. Others had soup and fish dishes with lovely veg and chips. All said... More

Popped in here for a meal with a group of close friends. The service was very good and the waiter/waitress were very good. The food I had was rather mediocre and wasn't something that a reasonable cook couldn't have knocked up at home. Prob not bad for a couples visit and we had a nice evening as a group of... More

I had cod fillet with cider and mustard papardelle, lacked a bit of salt but absolutely delicious. Hubby had 'probably the best steak ever', lovely fresh salad and crispy chips. Hubby's pistachio and raspberry Bakewell tart had not quite enough raspberry but was very good and the custard excellent. ( Funnily enough this recipe was Monica Galleti's skills test on... More
