This pub has tables you can book at the back or just for a drink in the bar. The food is typical pub grub, but is very well done. I shared a meze platter and olives and bread with friends then had a very good fish pie. Others had soup and fish dishes with lovely veg and chips. All said... More

Popped in here for a meal with a group of close friends. The service was very good and the waiter/waitress were very good. The food I had was rather mediocre and wasn't something that a reasonable cook couldn't have knocked up at home. Prob not bad for a couples visit and we had a nice evening as a group of... More

I had cod fillet with cider and mustard papardelle, lacked a bit of salt but absolutely delicious. Hubby had 'probably the best steak ever', lovely fresh salad and crispy chips. Hubby's pistachio and raspberry Bakewell tart had not quite enough raspberry but was very good and the custard excellent. ( Funnily enough this recipe was Monica Galleti's skills test on... More

We went here for a meal and didn't have a very good experience. The staff were good but the quality of the food was not as expected, just average! Noodle soup which was very salty and puddings were a real let down. We spent £40 on a simple meal out and customers on the table next were vaping at the... More

We met up with an old friend from Woodbridge who managed to snap up a last minute table at The Anchor. The decor was unfussy and not F&B'd or gentrified .We enjoyed an informal evening by the fire . My steak came under attack as soon as it was placed on the table .But that was fine as it was a... More

There are a number of restaurants in Woodbridge offering rather elevated cuisine, with prices to match, but if you have a less adventurous palate there are several excellent local pubs that will more than satisfy your hunger. We tried the Anchor in Quay St one Monday evening. Surprisingly, for a Monday evening the place was very busy even around 7pm.... More

We've had mixed experiences at The Anchor. First of all, the food generally dictates this as a destination pub. On occasion we've been disappointed, mincemeat curry comes to mind, i.e. Kheema Curry. Ok it's authentic, but the accompaniments for Kheema on the Indian sub continent are not boiled rice and a poppodom! An unwillingness on that ocassion almost left it... More
