We had lunch here last week and it was very disappointing. On a positive note: the service was excellent. The staff are attentive and it's service with a smile. But the food is mediocre quality and poor value. The salmon caesar salad was all claggy dressing and soggy salmon. The tuna cheddar melt was tasteless. The coffee was okay -... More

used to be the best place to eat in Newmarket, not any more :( expensive and food quality poor, charge service charge for you going to bar and ordering drinks and food yourself

Stayed at the hotel and had the inclusive dinner. Was OK Nothing special tbh. The food looked nicer than it tasted... Style over substance in my opinion. Service charges automatic on bill... I like to tip for good service but it should be at my discretion!

The food was absolutely divine. A lot of thought had clearly gone into preparing the different dishes, and the blend of foods, tastes and textures was quite frankly sublime. The service was average, but the quality of the food more than made up for this.

We (4adults) had a birthday dinner here yesterday. The building, restaurant & grounds are lovely & well maintained. After dinner we moved to easy chairs & relaxed with tea & coffee which was lovely. The atmosphere is very relaxed with soft music playing. We each had a main course & dessert. We had: sausages & mash, fish & chips, sea... More

Can't understand a restaurant that goes to such lengths rip off diners through it's wine prices. I can maybe understand a little price hiking during the Sales or race meetings but on a quiet Monday night they have only served to right and royally piss me off. I enjoyed the food and love the atmosphere there and would look forward... More

Great menu with lots of choice catering for every appetite. Staff made us feel very welcome and were friendly whilst very professional. Wine choice was good too. Can recommend the steaks.

Having previously enjoyed meals here I now write to echo others more recent experience of this restaurant. We visited on a Saturday in May for a graduation celebration. Overall, the food was poor. A wider menu choice is now offered but this has been at the expense of quality. A soft shell crab starter with uncooked thick batter was unpleasant.... More

Afternoon tea has to be good to be better than Reid's Palace Madeira and this was! OK there aren't the views out to sea but the food is more varied and there's more of it, to the extent that I couldn't manage the last cake and some fruit. I had the "Gentleman's Tea" which includes a pint of bitter rather... More

I came here for lunch with my Mum today. We came here late last year and had an amazing dinner but this experience was a polar opposite. It is no longer a fine dining experience and certainly for the quality of the food is not a two rosette experience. We were shown three tables before finding a suitable one to... More

Description
Squires Restaurant at Bedford Lodge Hotel has undergone a stunning refurbishment and menu overhaul. The walls are adorned with carefully selected pieces of art mostly conducive of still life which bring the artistic decor into being. The vibrant colour scheme of rich raspberry and subtle lime combined with the amazing food, make for a charismatic ambience, especially during the evening when the lights are dimmed and the lanterns are glowing. This intimate restaurant is perfectly suited for long, leisurely chats over a bottle of choice Sauvignon or other pickings from the vineyards of France, Italy and the New World. The expertly selected wine list is enhanced by the eclectic menus and delectable selection of dishes. Whether it’s business or pleasure, a light lunch with friends or romantic dinner for two, Squires Restaurant is a recipe for success. Staff who aim to please, chefs who deliver and management who know how to manage... the ‘proof is in the pudding’, as they say.
