Late booking by telephone and very helpful in booking us in. Welcomed and shown to our table. Cannot speak highly enough of staff and attitude in all way's. Food was of a quality and promptly served. Table was a little sticky and cutlery not well...placed but..... its not a 5 Star eatery and doesn't profess to be. As stranger's we felt valued and never rushed. Management/owner was attentive and interested in his staff who excelled. Thank you all.More

Food was of a good standard, waitress pleasant and helpful. Sadly we felt our experience was a little rushed, clearly wanted to shut up early. We would have probably had another drink but sadly felt we had outstayed our time.

Went for Sunday Lunch. Didn’t enjoy the Halloween decor - not sure a blood smeared doctor’s coat is the perfect accompaniment to roast beef. However will not argue this point as some enjoy it. Star was deducted for the dirty tables. Old marks of felt...tip pens may happen anywhere, although seemed out of place with the smart decor, but the table was also dirty and sticky. We had to ask for it to be cleaned, but it was still sticky. Meanwhile the Sunday lunch was really lovely!!More

We had an excellent Saturday night meal here. This is more than a pub as the restaurant is a stylish room separated from the main bar drinking area. We had booked and received a warm welcome and we’re taken to our table. Service was good...and the food was excellent. I had liver and bacon and my wife the sea bass. Both dishes were perfectly good with a selection of vegetables. Tasty comfort food of a good portion size. A really good meal and we look forward to a return visit. Reasonable price too! Nothing not to like!More

We visited the De-Vere house, which was used in the Harry Potter's films (Godric Hollow) and we saw this lovely pub to sit and have lunch. It was a lovely warm day in August so we sat outside, which was a nice setting with a...view of St Peter and St Paul's church across the road in Lavenham. Good food and friendly service.More

Pre booked a 17 place setting for a one off visit to Lavenham as staying locally with friends and family. Arrive for our 2 o'clock booking to then have to add 3 extra places to our table last minuet. As this was a bank holiday...and extremely busy, the staff were very accommodating and organised with no problems. The waiting staff were fantastic but wished they had name badges as 1 in particular was great through out our service. Food was fantastic although my husband didn't like his fish n chips. But he is fussy lol. Definitely recommend to eat and socialise , thank you to you all. 👍🍷😁More

This was a disappointing lunch with poor portions, sticky tables and food not as described. We ordered an avocado salad which came with no avocado. The best but was the easy parking next to the pub but that was about it.More

Four of us had an excellent fish & chips dinner at the Cock Horse. The fish portion was indeed large, though the small portion was also bigger than expected. The service was very good. We sat outside and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

We called in today for a light lunch whilst visiting Lavenham for the first time on the basis of their ‘Best Suffolk pub/restaurant 2021’ award but can’t work out how they got it. Service at the bar was friendly but the food arrived suspiciously promptly....We ordered a club sandwich and a coronation chicken sandwich which were no better than a supermarket pre-packed job. The bread was ready sliced wholemeal, the club sandwich toasted but somehow still soggy, the fillings slimy, ungenerous and dull and a tiny pinch of unimaginative green stuff on the side was the only accompaniment. At just under £18, this was an absolute rip off. Sorry to say, we’ll not be back, it’s sad to assume that whoever leads this kitchen team clearly has no pride in what they do.More

ThIs Pub was on the “recommended eateries” in the area at our hotel! We rang to booked a table and a very pleasant young lady took our booking. On arrival the establishment is very inviting. There were eight people in the dining room. Four left...so we made six. My husband enjoys a Prawn Cocktail so has seen many presentations of this starter! The lettuce and prawns were piled on the plate in in a mound and Tomato Ketchup adorned the plate! He followed this with “Flat Iron Steak”, He found it tough and the chips or Fries looked as if they were left over from a previous session as they had that over cooked dried up look! I didn’t have a starter but ordered the Black treacle pork chop. - this was quite fatty and thin. Loads of broccoli and a sprinkling of grated raw carrot. When we left at about eight thirty, there were just two other diners and a couple on the sofas having a drink! Neither of us tried the facilities, the car park was large but we weren’t sure if it was the Pubs car park or a Pay and Display or the Health Centre Car Park.. Think we will give it a miss next time!More

There was food left on the table from previous diners. When I asked for the table to be wiped ,a member of staff reluctantly swished a cloth over it saying in a rather sarcastic tone, " We don't normally wipe these tables. I get it...- cleanliness and everything." The pub claims to be dog friendly, to the extent that one was sitting on the table next to us! Remember that when you decide to sit outside facing Lavenham's beautiful church! The ground under the tables was also unclean. The food was only average and we had to collect our own cutlery.More

We reviewed Trip Advisor and chose The Cock Horse Inn for our lunch, the Sunday roast was great, it felt like home cooking with great vegetables. Lovely outdoor seating areas at the front and the back and it was dog friendly. The service was ok,...not brilliant, but the food definitely made up for it.More
