Hands down probably THE best restaurant in Suffolk area and Bury St Edmunds. Fantastic food, off the beaten tourist path a bit, and located across the street from a great local microbrewery, Old Cannon Brewery. If you spend anytime in Bury go to Pea Porridge!!!! So freakin good.

A sunny evening in September I arrived before my colleagues and enjoyed a glass of wine on the bench outside whilst the stress of the week fell away . The staff were fantastic and welcoming and the food simple and perfect . I had the best steak in many many years my colleagues shared a beautifully presented Skate with capers... More

Well we came to here the day before a wedding OMG firstly an amazing atmosphere, the waiting staff (Anna) are some of the best I have ever encountered! The food was exceptional, innovative and exquisite, not the cheapest food but probably the best value for money! The Onglet steak is to die for and the monkfish was cooked perfectly. Wine... More

Fine food creatively melded and graciously served in a cozy atmosphere--I was delighted by this East Anglia gem and commend it to all who appreciate fine living.

Have visited this restaurant twice now and both times the meat (veal the first, duck the last) were so fatty I couldn't finish the veal and couldn't even start the duck as it was inedible. The restaurant itself is delightful, cosy and romantic. The staff were also very helpful and attentive its just a pity that the meat was so... More

These guys are so so good, the atmosphere is lovely and the tuna was just out of this world. Still the best.

Have been to Mason Bleue and other similar restaurants in and around BSE, but this was by far the best overall experience in the local area. The food was exceptional, the choice of wine was excellent and we'll thought out including the cost for the wine which was very reasonable for the quality offered.

We went to Pea Porridge to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We have been before, so this was our second visit. Great welcome, great food and great atmosphere! We've visited many other restaurants who serve the same standard of food, however here you feel as if you fit in! We each had 3 courses. He had: crab for starter, steak... More

Visited with my partner, she having been before. Tucked away, a welcome from the attentive staff into a cosy buzzy atmosphere. Treats from the chef then the starter and mains and sadly too full for dessert. Could have enjoyed everything on the menu and having found it will want to return. Lovely staff, great service a real find. Go there.... More

Knowledgeable staff and a very warm welcome await you if you go here for a meal. I particularly recommend the squid-ink risotto - and the Ickworth House Walled Garden white wine to go with it!
