So many eateries these days are pubs without the refinement of a restaurant, but they still charge restaurant prices. The Brasserie Bleue is a proper Restaurant. The staff are very welcoming. The surroundings are very comfortable. We had a very relaxed 3-course meal taking our time at over 2 hours. The upholstered chairs made this so much better than the... More

We visited the White Lion for dinner last week. It was a cold and wet and windy evening and on arrival the team there were keen to help us dry off and warm up as if we were welcomed into their own home. We both had fish dishes, bream and plaice and I have to admit that they were both... More

The Brasserie Bleue menu specialises in French cuisine with classic flavour combinations that never fail to impress. The menu has a very French feel although there are aspects of other European and British cuisine available too. You can choose from both an a la carte and pre fix menu offering a wide choice of dishes and great value. The Gravadlax salmon... More

We had a delicious meal here on a Saturday evening (we had pre-booked). The food was really good quality, nicely presented and generous portions. We had starters and couldn't find room for a pud. We thought it was pretty good value too. Atmosphere was fine, although the lighting was a bit on the bright side. The staff were very efficient... More

I cannot fault our food or service, my husband and I both opted for the set 2 course menu and shared a starter and dessert. Our starter was various meats and dips, including a delicious local ham and tomato tapenade, both lush. He had pheasant for main which was beautiful except for the berries in the sauce, very bitter so... More

Our latest visit to the the Restaurant was again superb. Great local food ('nothing further than Norfolk'). Good atmosphere, very busy and attentive staff. Restaurant Manager, Pille, again made sure we had a most enjoyable experience (as she always does !!). I really recommend this restaurant is an essential on any visit to the lovely Aldeburgh. Small downside, a pot... More

Staying in Thorpeness on a Monday night a number of places were closed. So glad that they were as we had an excellent meal from the prix fixe menu. Great value. Excellent service. Lovely dining room. And all that's without the view of the sea since it was dark outside.

We stayed at the White Lion and had dinner and breakfast here. It was a terrific experience and one that will be long in the memory. Service was excellent, manager, barman and waitresses were spot on. I had the smoked fish platter to start which was a treat and then locally caught plaice. Both were a treat. Finished with a...
