Very expensive for a below average Sunday lunch. Veg and roast pots +++ hard, one small bowl of veg between 3. Very small Yorkshire pudding and only served 1 per meal. Felt completely ripped off!

Booked for a Saturday lunch based on several recommendations and wasn't disappointed. First stop the bar, for prosecco by the glass (always a bonus) and a nice drop of locally brewed ale. Then to a cosy corner table in the restaurant. Great ambience (as long as you're not looking for ultra-modern glass and chrome or unbridled opulence): all bare brick... More

I had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic gastro pub last week. The food was extremely tasty and very well priced. The service was perfect with the staff being friendly and knowing a lot about where the ingredients had come from. Would highly recommend this hidden gem to anybody passing.

This pub had been recommended to us and it did not disappoint. I have to admit it looks a bit tired from the outside (especially next to the other pub in the village, but don't let this put you off), inside it looks great. It has a fresh and modern feel to it with a good pub atmosphere. Friendly and... More

First time I'd been here for a long time, service and welcome was lovely, all the girls were very attentive without invasion. The food was lovely, for the price I would have liked a little more for my money at £18.95 each for 2 course lunch, if there had been plenty in first course would never have had room for... More

We have visited this pub many times & each time the food & the service is excellent. The pub has a large drinks menu with a variety of fine wines, gins etc. It also serves the most incredible home made bread & butter which is served to the table as you are seated. The pub has a warm atmosphere &... More

The last time I ate here I said it was the best starter I had eaten......not anymore! The haggis scotch egg was so good it takes number one spot. The main meal of slow rib of beef in carrot stock was equally as good and overall the experience was a pleasure. You get the sense of an excellent run establishment... More

Lunch at the Vane arms was superb. Had my grandson with me and a high chair came straight away no fuss. He so enjoyed the wonderful sour dough bread that was brought for him to eat while we decided what to choose from the fabulous menu. Moules was delicious and my husbands sea trout was cooked to perfection. Defiantly going... More

Really enjoyed freshly prepared food and the relaxed atmosphere. Starter salads are interesting and colorful, with beetroot, cheese and dressing. Liked the way the asparagus was prepared (grilled?) for sea trout and new potato dish. Mother-in-law enjoys "plain" food and the fish and chips was just right for her. Liked the way that table had been sorted for her walker.... More
