My wife had the usual Turkey meal. It was stunning, especially the pigs in blankets. I had a home made Fish Cake which was also very good. the star for me was the dessert of Christmas Croudie. Excellent and friendly service. Lovely relaxed atmosphere as befitting a bistro. With a bottle of wine we paid £50 for two people.

I visited tonight for a meal with 15 work colleagues. We were taken to a room upstairs that was dimly lit, dingey and freezing cold. We were given the festive set menu that looked delicious. I ordered the belly pork, bean and chorizo starter, when this came the portion was beyond small and rather than it being belly pork it... More

This wasn't the greatest meal I've ever had but it was pretty good and given that the food is only part of the whole experience this place is well worth going to. It's a small restaurant simply furnished with scrubbed wooden tables, well separated so you can't hear what people on the next table are talking about and, more importantly,... More

Impromptu lunch - such good value : two courses for £8.50 (3 courses are about £10 or £10.50) Good choice of dishes, including veggie. The menu changes regularly and there is always something interesting to try. Puds are lovely too! The building is old, interesting and has a great ambience.

Well I have to say, this is such a quante restaurant with a great atmosphere. I had two courses which I recommend the 1709 burger and chocolate cheese cake to follow, will definitely go back

Went today on our first visit. Fixed menu. Wide choice. My wife cannot eat spicy foods and they were very helpful in serving her a starter with a plain dressing rather than the one on the menu.

I've visited this restaurant before and sometimes in the past the food has been variable, but recently when my partner and I have visited for Sunday lunch the standard has been very high. The starters are very good (usually soup in our case) and the chicken roast I had was fantastic. My partner is a vegetarian and on previous occasions... More
