Cosy place with honest food. Friendly waiters. Only the cappuccino we had after dinner wasn't hot enough.

We wanted a simple meal after a long flight from the U.S. We enjoyed a delicious plate of fish and chips along with some good beer while seated in the charming patio area. The service was prompt and the servers friendly. We had such a great time we decided to return for dinner the next night.

Bath Ales pubs are usually pretty consistent food wise and the Hop Pole is no exception. Great selection of ales, including Beered beers. Food was great. Aforementioned egg was amazing and the market fish of the day cooked well if a little under seasoned for my taste. Chicken and chorizo pie was a winner too with a decent shortcrust and... More

We recently had two nights in Bath and after an excellent meal at the Hop Pole on night # 1, decided to go back on the second night. We thought the service was perhaps a little slow and the fare (including wine) a tad on the expensive side, but the quality of the food and the amiable ambience of the... More

Been to many bar/restaurants can quite honestly say this is the best so far, party of six was not seen as a hindrance and a fussy dinner was more than accommodate for by waitresses and the chefs, the local bath and on tap was lovely all the food superb. A hidden little gem in bath which well worth a visit.

My wife and I visited the Hop Pole on Friday evening after walking down from Combe Down, dodging the showers. On arrival, we were shown to our table in the restaurant by the helpful bar staff and served by a very attentive waitress (Sorry, I didn't get her name). We sat in what looked like a converted bowling alley which... More

Entered the place and the bar tender told us to find our own seat, so went through to the restaurant and sat down. Waitress came down and asked if we had booked, we said no, the waitress went 'ummm okay, this table is booked but others are reserved, but this table isn't a booked one' in such a way that... More
