Having seen the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, we changed our eating plans for our one day in Bath and headed for the Hop Pole for our evening meal. We were disappointed; the tables were sticky and my wife's sausage and mash (£10) was full of lumps in the mash potato. When they collected the plates and we pointed out... More

A super post- A Level results meal! Fantastic meal and more importantly great service. After a slight hiccup in forgetting my sister's order, the staff more than made amends by striking her main and our drinks off our bill. All the staff were bubbly and friendly, whilst food arrived quickly with panache. The service is definitely my main reasoning for... More

I consider this my local, even though I walk past 3 other pubs to get there! Love it! Great beer and like the beer garden and the monthly super clubs are well worth it! Best of all is the cosy atmosphere !

Pretty good pub food featuring Bath Ales (not a free house). Mostly local crowd. Convenient to the B&B's that line Upper Bristol Road.

We stopped for lunch whilst walking The Kennet and Avon Canal ( and its River Avon extension to Bristol). Its not far from the river and was an ideal lunch spot at the southern end of Victoria Park. The food was good and the staff very friendly and welcoming.

I have eaten at the Hop Pole in the past and always found the food good and reasonably good value for money, however last night we unfortunately had a difference experience. We were a party of five celebrating a birthday, and whilst the staff were friendly and the service good, the food was slow to come out, especially as we... More

I'm very sorry to hear of your disappointing visit here with us, LuLu11307. We are currently undergoing quite a lot of change with our kitchen team, and due to this we have had some under par temporary chefs helping out. I'm sorry the food and general standards of your plates wasn't up to what not only you would expect, but... More

Cosy place with honest food. Friendly waiters. Only the cappuccino we had after dinner wasn't hot enough.

Thank you, Martine V, for you review. I'm glad you enjoyed most things, just disappointing that we weren't told about the cappuccino not being at the right temperature. We would have been able to fix it as soon as possible for you. Many thanks again and hope to see you in the future. More

We wanted a simple meal after a long flight from the U.S. We enjoyed a delicious plate of fish and chips along with some good beer while seated in the charming patio area. The service was prompt and the servers friendly. We had such a great time we decided to return for dinner the next night.

Bath Ales pubs are usually pretty consistent food wise and the Hop Pole is no exception. Great selection of ales, including Beered beers. Food was great. Aforementioned egg was amazing and the market fish of the day cooked well if a little under seasoned for my taste. Chicken and chorizo pie was a winner too with a decent shortcrust and... More

We recently had two nights in Bath and after an excellent meal at the Hop Pole on night # 1, decided to go back on the second night.
