Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Supporters Association held a lunchtime pre-match 'Meet and Greet' event ahead of the pre-season game against Bath RFC.
What an enjoyable experience it was. 60+ supporters turned up to meet in the pre-booked 'upstairs room', which suited us perfectly. The beer was good and reasonably priced, and those that ate lunch could not fault the quality of the food. The staff were very efficient and friendly - and they even, kindly, looked after a large box of tee shirts for us whist we attended the match!
We will use the Huntsman again!!!

I visited The Huntsman in Bath after seeing a recommendation on Instagram, and I'm so glad I did! After walking around the city, I made my way to the pub and, admittedly, nervously pondered whether to choose a Pinot Noir or Prosecco. The staff member, however, calmly suggested the Pinot Noir since we're in February—great recommendation! The saff are lovely!
I was welcomed warmly and settled into a lovely corner. Deciding on the fish & chips, I was absolutely blown away. I’m a sucker for fish & chips, but this was the best I’ve ever had. The fish was perfectly cooked, the seasoning just right, and the chef went the extra mile to cater to my dietary requirements while still maintaining amazing flavor. Honestly, I don't know where the chef’s from, but this has got to be Michelin-worthy fish & chips.
It was such a thoughtful touch that they made me dairy- and egg-free tartar sauce to go with it. And as a bonus, I appreciated that the pub used proper, thick napkins—such a small thing, but it made a difference. Highly recommend!

My partner and I visited for Sunday lunch, following some sight seeing on the Tootbus. Running out of time, we nearly gave lunch a miss….but were so glad we didn’t! My partner was blown away by his lamb Sunday lunch, and said it was the best lamb he had tasted. He was so impressed, he asked if he could speak to the chef to thank him. The chef obligingly came out, and was very humble and polite. We would definitely recommend a visit. The bar staff were also very friendly and helpful, giving us tips for our visit to Bath.

When we come to the UK we always look for a Sunday roast in a typical pub
The Huntsman is a beautiful location. We had a window table on a fabulous sunny day
Great menu
Our waitress was a gem
Sadly the food took over an hour to arrive after we ordered
My ‘pink’ roast beef was so over cooked it was too tough to cut. They found some vaguely pink off cuts but they were stringy and cold
Could have been so good but the kitchen needs a real shake up

We were in Bath on Sunday and decided to go for Sunday lunch at The Huntsman whilst we were there as it looked nice. We didn't book but were told this was fine when we went in at the end of the lunch time rush at 2pm.
We sat at a table in the bar which was fine. After we had ordered we waited for 30 minutes for our starter which was fine as we knew they were busy. We shared the olives and hummus (£6.50). There was a good dollop of hummus and a sliced up flat bread but we were rather surprised that there were only three sliced olives. We were also not provided with any cutlery so I went to find some.
We waited another 30 minutes for our main course. My partner had ordered the roast chicken (without stuffing as it contained pork) but sadly when it arrived there was stuffing on top of the chicken. We noted this but were prepared to just put the stuffing on my plate until we saw my plate. I had ordered the roast beef(£20.50). What appeared was some rather grey pork covering a few squashed vegetables all squeezed into a starter size plate. Our server, who was very polite, had been told to tell us they had run out of dinner plates and this was all they had left. This explanation, which we don't blame on the server, seemed very patronising at the very least especially given that no one else had been given food squashed on a small plate.
We asked for the food to be changed to what we ordered and to be presented as two main meals. Our server was fine with this.
After another 30 minutes when other people received their orders we had received no food or any explanation for the delay.
At this point my partner asked for our money back (excluding the cost of our starter and our drinks) and for the manager to come and explain what had happened.
Another very polite server brought us our money and apologised for the poor service and long delays but sadly there was no sign of the manager until we were leaving when he went to tell the people at the table behind us that they were very busy but did not seem to feel it was necessary to say anything to us.
The whole experience was dispiriting and I thought it was quite sad as I had often gone to The Huntsman when I was younger but I really can't see us making a return visit or recommending the pub to any of our friends.
One lighter moment was the sight of the man at the next table topping up his glass from cans of beer under the table which appeared to be fine.....
We were still hungry so we went to Franco Manca which was fab and I would heartily recommend to everyone!

The venue itself is beautiful. Really lovely pub as so many are in Bath.
Unfortunately the reception we had from the girl on the bar downstairs was unfriendly, boarding on rude.
Had to wait for our table which was 20 mins late, which I understand on a busy Sunday is often the case - not easy to turn the tables.
Roast dinners were okay, nice Yorkshire pudding which came regardless of what meat you ordered which is a nice touch. We ordered the extra potatoes at nearly £5 which was a little pricey.
Out of 5 puddings, only 2 were available. Again they were fine but nothing more than that.
For two people, both having two courses and a pint and a half of Pepsi each nearly £90 stung a bit.

Arrived and the pub was bigger than expected. Directed upstairs which was unexpected with a dog in tow but what a treat Tastefully decorated restaurant with comfy surroundings. There was a large Christmas party however this didn’t interfere with the great service received or delay in our food being served. Food was excellent! I only had burger but you can often over cook them! Very tasty.

Wanted to eat and drink at the Huntsman, we arrived about 5.05pm, nice menus on the table, not cheap but I had eaten there before so I knew the food was good. Paid £14 for two pints of beer😳 most expensive in Bath from my experience. Went to order two sandwiches but was told they didn’t do sandwiches after 5pm! When asked why the were on the menu we were told that the menu in question should have been removed from the table. How hard is it to do a sandwich after 5pm?? They were quite happy to let a couple on the table next to us to share Hummus and flatbread but they can’t do a Sandwich!!!

The Huntsman (with a menu that includes the standard pub options) does some little things to improve their recipes. Let’s take their fish and chips, they used mint in their pea puree; It might sound frivolous, but it improved the flavor.
Service is very relaxed; you simply order at the bar, and they will find you and take it to your table. There are some books and board games to enjoy while the order arrives.
My seat was a sofa, very comfortable and with good views of the plaza.
The staff were attentive to my needs (like extra mustard for the chips).
Overall, it was very satisfactory.

This is the second time I have been to this pub (both times the booking was done by friends pre the rugby game). The first time, a few months ago, the food was averagely poor, however this time my meal was absolutely dreadful. The chilli prawns consisted of 6 prawns accompanied by a tablespoon of rocket, 2 cubes of feta, a tablespoon of rice, a cherry tomato and 3 oily deep-fried mini poppadoms. The entire plate was drenched and swimming in loads of oil. All I could eat was the 6 prawns. What I was expecting was a proper flavoured Mediterranean rice salad with prawn skewers on top. I have lived in Bath 30 years and this was the worst meal I have ever had in the city.

We popped in for drinks and were not disappointed. It was early evening and the pub was not full but it had a good atmosphere and the barman was very welcoming. The smell of the roast dinners were good and if we hadn't already made reservations elsewhere we would have eaten there. We will return

Starting with the positive both of the members of staff working on the day I visited were very pleasant and helpful. The drinks were also good. However, we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. All 3 in my party ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich and triple cooked chips. The content of the sandwich was a “mish mash of a mixture”. One of my friends found a fish scale in her Cajun chicken mixture and although she is not allergic to fish she has an aversion to fish. This discovery proved to be a real game changer and we all began to question what else might be in this Cajun chicken mix. It definitely put all of us off and we elected not to eat the food and sent it back. In fairness one of the members of staff made a fair refund decision and we just decided to judge this to be an all round very disappointing experience. It is one however that will have a knock on effect because none of us would consider another visit and we certainly wouldn’t recommend The Huntsman to anyone.

Our daughter has a nut allergy and the menu as QR code process to check and filter all ingredients. Booked online and they immediately knew about the allergy and really made our tenneager feel relaxed and special. Food was incredibly nice and atmosphere was perfect. Our dogs got water without us having to ask and lots of cuddles. We even went back at the end of our holiday. A must try!

I booked a table for lunch for myself and three visitors from the US. They were hoping for a proper 'English pub lunch' type experience, and I have to say that the Huntsman did a great job on every level. The staff were efficient and friendly, the service was spot on, and the haddock and chips with minted peas was unbeatable, genuinely the best cooked piece of haddock I have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. OK, there could have been a few more chips on the plate (for a hog like my good self), but this really was a faultless lunch. Perfect. Well done!

The Huntsman is a charming historical pub. It is a beautifully preserved building. We found a cozy table for two. We ordered fish & chips, roasted tomato soup, green salads, and pints of beer. Everything was delicious.
