The Avon Canal is popular with walkers and wheezy cyclists like me. The cafe is best experienced outside as downstairs is small although mercifully dog-resistant. Great Cakes in the central european style, paninis, how made soup all served by the charming owner.

If you had thought about it you know it makes sense...walking along the canal path from Bradford on Avon or from Bath you come to the delightful village of Bathampton with he popular George Pub. What makes this place special though is not the pub but the Barge cafe It is a converted barge with seats inside or on the... More

Took my mum here after a busy day shopping in Bath, perfect place to relax on a sunny day with tea, cake, peace & quiet by the river. Free parking along the road parallel to the river. Will return...

Wonderful little cafe we visited today as a break from work. Braved the cold and sat outside! Cake was incredible, some of the best we have ever had and portions are huge so make sure you come with an empty stomach! Will definitely be back again soon.

what an unexpected find during a walk along the canal between Bradford on Avon and Bath! The cafe is in a barge moored alongside the canal - how could we resist? We stopped for a drink and sandwich, but resisted the wonderful looking cakes on display (only because we had lots of cake to finish at home). The service is... More

It is is worth stopping off at this barge cafe if you are walking along the canal towpath just for the originality factor. The coffee was reasonable (not great) but it was just too soon after breakfast to road test the tempting Victoria sponge with fresh fruit and cream... A walker assured me it was excellent so I would take... More

Whenever my wife and I pass the Barge we always call in for that extra special welcome, a superb coffee and a slice of the super delicious cake. We tried the first cake sold - a carrot cake so beautifully decorated it was a shame to cut it! If it's lunch time we have one of the other specials but... More

Just the place for a stop off when walking the canal path. Even better if you can sit outside on a sunny day and hail the barges going by! Service is very friendly and cakes worth putting on a few pounds for!!
