This time we ate on the first floor and the food and service was good. It wasn't quite as busy as the first time we ate here which was at a weekend. I love the style of the inside and the food is good and reasonable priced. Needed the waiter to be a bit more smiley though :-)

4 of us had lunch here prior to rugby, ordered 2 fish and chips and 2 steak pies. Fish and chips of usual high standard with decent size portions, one of the pies was more gravy than meat the other was OK. on high insight shouild have sent the pie back but as short of time did not do so.

I went to Hall & Woodhouse for lunch today. It's a great looking venue with a less formal 'Pantry' downstairs and a 'Dining Room' upstairs. The food is great, we both had fish and chips, great quality, well presented and good portions. Service is kind of average, nothing particularly personal about interactions if the service was top notch this really... More

Booked a table here to celebrate a birthday with a friend. Food was excellent and the portion sizes were really good. The duck was especially nice. Staff were great with quick, attentive service and even managed to bring out a little extra surprise for the birthday. All in all, will be back and would thoroughly recommend

Staff are more interested in their own conversations (and possibly checking out their reflections in the bar) to bother serving customers. Been going downhill for a while, quite upsetting being ignored, having to fight for attention ( on a quiet evening) then conversations carried on during service. Lovely setting which will always bring people in which probably means nothing will... More

Very nicely done out - gastro pub type of place on ground floor - more of a restaurant atmosphere on first floor and an open top on the roof - too cold for January though! Very few people on the first floor which is where we sat. I felt we were treated as "Oh, here is another customer - we... More

Having had coffee in the morning I decided to book a table for my husband and me in the evening. I love the interior decor of Hall & Woodhouse and the menu looked good too. Great coffee, (even with a lush piece of fudge on the side!)' fantastic personal service and booked without a problem. In the evening, we were... More
